Brazilian artist MC Serginho Porradao, 29, shot dead after he attempted to break up a fight between a cop and his girlfriend, who was also killed

A Brazilian singer tragically died after he attempting to break up a fight at a bar between an off-duty police officer and his girlfriend, who was also killed.

MC Serginho Porradão attended Father's Day event in Recife, Pernambuco, on Sunday when he was shot in the head.

The 29-year-old brega funk artist, whose real name is Sergio Gonçalves, tried to separate Manuela Tenório, 38, and Rodrigo Fortunato, who allegedly opened fire and struck him and the woman, news outlet G1 reported.

A bystander captured footage of the melee and stopped recording moments before Fortunato allegedly fired his weapon.

Tenório, a nurse technician, was pronounced dead on the scene while MC Serginho Porradão was first taken to a clinic and then rushed to Restauração Hospital, where he died from his injuries on Monday.

DailyMail.com was unable to confirm if the singer knew Tenório and Fortunato, who gave a statement to homicide agents at a Civil Police station in the western zone of Recife on Tuesday afternoon and was released, CBN Recife radio station reported.

Sergio Murilo told reporters that his nephew, MC Serginho Porradão, attended the party against the wishes of his aunt, who wanted him to stay home.

'She said 'don't go', but he said he would come back quickly. May justice be done. Both by the police and by God,' Murilo said.

Fortunato was placed on sick leave for 17 days by the Military Police on August 4. According to department policy, he was not allowed to carry his service weapon.

The Military Police said in a statement that Fortunato was being investigated by the 9th Battalion's command and it had 'adopted internal measures to investigate all the facts, in parallel with the actions of the Civil Police and Internal Affairs of the Secretariat of Social Defense.'

Both MC Serginho Porradão and Tenório were laid to rest in separate ceremonies Tuesday.

'I want justice,' MC Serginho Porradão's mother, told TV Globo. 'He wouldn't even kill a cockroach.'

Tenório's mother, Leny Tenório told the network that her daughter had been dating Fortunato for five months.

'What that creature did to my daughter, it was very bad,' she said. 'She said. 'I'm so happy, so well,' and he didn't know how to thank her for what she felt for him … he was very jealous.'
