Four Dallas cops hospitalized after driver in a pick-up truck plows through police barricade and smashes into their marked cars outside 3am domestic dispute

Four Dallas cops have been hospitalized after a driver in a pick-up truck plowed into them as they responded to a domestic shooting on Thursday morning. 

The officers had been called to reports of a shooting earlier involving a woman, her boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend. 

While waiting outside the property, an unknown driver in a different vehicle smashed into the police cars after barreling down a side street and into the barricade.

A man and a woman were in the pick-up and police say the driver, who has not yet been identified, stayed at the scene but they would not confirm whether he was arrested. 

The officers were hit by a pick-up as they tried to negotiate with an armed hostage taker 

They say he was 'uninvolved' in the domestic incident but it's unclear what exactly led to the crash, and a blood test for intoxicants was negative. 

In the chaos, one of the men involved in the original disturbance tried to flee, jumping out of a window before eventually being arrested himself.  

One officer was left unable to walk and all four were taken to the city’s Parkland Hospital where one was treated for minor injuries, one for a suspected broken foot, with evaluations underway on the other two.

One of the victims was also taken to hospital but is expected to recover fully. 

Two women and two children were inside the home as the gunman entered in the early hours

The driver of the pick-up was tested for alcohol but the results came back negative
