Horrifying moment Colombian singer, 47, is stabbed to death in a bar by man whose girlfriend he serenaded and put his arm around

A married father-of-five who dreamed of singing along famous Mexican artists has been murdered in Colombia.

Luis Mendivelso, 47, was performing at a local bar in the capital city of Bogotá on Sunday when Miguel Rangel, 27, stabbed him for dedicating a song to his girlfriend, his son told City TV.

Footage of the incident shows Mendivelso interpreting a ballad for Rangel and his partner when he approached the couple and embraced her.

An enraged Rangel waits for him to walk away and then charges at him, admonishing him for singing to his companion.

Mendivelso continues to sing before he is pushed against the wall and chocked. 

A young man steps in and pushes the Rangel away as bar guests attempt to calm him down.

Rangel left the bar and later returned with two men to assault Mendivelso, stabbing him two times.

He was rushed to a Vista Hermosa Hospital, where doctors made attempts to save his life before declaring him dead.

Mendivelso was known for performing at bars in the Bogotá town of Ciudad Bolivar, belting out tunes of songs made famous by his favorite Mexican singers.

'My dad always wanted to be a great singer, he wanted to release his albums and be recognized,' his son said.

Rangel and his two accomplices were taken into custody.

Bogotá crime stats show that 750 murders have been registered in the city in 2023.
