Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said that he feared he broke his ankle during Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Kelce went down holding his foot during the second quarter of what went on to be a 27-20 win for KC.

In the latest episode of Kelce's 'New Heights' podcast, he told his brother Jason what happened and what went through his mind at the time.

'I rolled my ankle - it was like in basketball, you're coming down off a rebound and you just roll your ankle,' Travis explained.

'It was unfortunate if you watch it in slow motion my ankle kinda slips for a couple of inches and then it finally grabs on the turf.

'And that's been the knock [on artificial turf] is that when you do slip, you don't just slip right through the grass you kinda slip and then it grabs... and you're just not ready for it.

'I'm just out here being old as f**k and just offing myself... nobody's doing this to me but me and I just feel like a f**king jamoke and a grandpa out here and just injure myself. So that's what a majority of my frustration was.'

Travis also said that once he was helped up onto his feet, fear of the worst began to fill his head until tests were done.

'Initially felt a few things going on in my ankle that... didn't feel great,' he said. 'When I first rolled it, I got right off the field and I really couldn't put much weight on it.

'So I knew I had to at least see if it was broken, went in, got X-Rays, and from there knew there was nothing structurally wrong with it. So I could just tape that thing up and get back out there.'

Kelce eventually returned to the game and finished the day with ten catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.

The Chiefs play their first AFC West rival on Thursday Night Football, when the Denver Broncos travel to Kansas City.
