New footage of a Tesla that was forced to smash its way out of a street takeover shows it being jumped on and the hood being pounded by an angry mob just moments earlier.

Video emerged over the weekend, quickly going viral, as viewers were appalled to see the battered vehicle trying to make its escape.

Clad in black hoodies and masks, a group of Chicago youths flash gang signs and middle fingers as they lean against the hood on Lower Wacker Drive.

One person appears to take out his cellphone to snap a selfie.

When the car jerks forward, the youths leaped off the hood, abruptly turn and began landing punches on the hood.

One person in a white sweatshirt aims a kick at the right backseat door.

The video cuts to show two other cars circling around each other, doing donuts in the empty intersection.

Suddenly, the camera swings around to capture the moment the Tesla plows through the crowd with someone still sitting on the hood.

He rolls off and lays sprawled on his back on the concrete  while others crowd around him.

As the car crawls down the tunnel, a small group chases after it, pointing their cellphones.

The person filming approaches the left driver's side, exposing a dangling mirror. Others continue to hail the door with blows.

The camera draws closer to the tinted window, revealing the driver: a young man with a black beanie pulled over his forehead.

He points his own cellphone at the window before reversing the car and speeding off between rows of stopped traffic that face the opposite direction.

It becomes apparent that police are on the scene, waiting further down the tunnel with the lights on their squad cars flashing.

The viral incident is far from the first time young people have gathered to cause a ruckus in Chicago's Loop.

Over the past year, massive groups of young people have spilled into the area - sometimes with deadly consequences.

In July, a total of 40 people faced charges after a large gathering in the South Loop, according to Chicago police.

This included a 15-year-old who was slapped with a felony charge of unlawful possession of a concealed weapon, along with possession of an illegal gun accessory and a count of disorderly conduct.

A 17-year-old was also handed a felony charge of unlawful possession of an automatic weapon, plus citations for possession of a high-capacity magazine.

Over the span of two days in April, cops responded to massive crowds of teenagers at Millennium Park and 31st Street Beach - which came to an end after someone was shot.
