A Massachusetts mom accused of strangling her three children to death while suffering with post-partum psychosis sat in a wheelchair during a hospital court hearing.

Lindsay Clancy, 33, was charged with the murders of her five-year-old daughter Cora, three-year-old son Dawson, and seven-month-old son Callan in the basement of their home in Duxbury on January 24.

She had begged doctors for help before the deaths - and she cut her own wrists then jumped from a top floor window of the family's home following the ordeal and tore her spinal cord.

Clancy appeared in front of a judge on Thursday at state-run psychiatric treatment facility Tewksbury State Hospital, where she has been hospitalized since the spring.

She pleaded not guilty and a judge ruled for her to be held without bail and committed to psychiatric care because she is 'at imminent risk of self-harm'.

Clancy, dressed in all black, wore a blue surgical mask over her nose during the hearing which lasted around 30 minutes. She was sat on a large table facing the prosecutor.

Judge William F. Sullivan ordered that Clancy be held without bail and committed to psychiatric care at Tewksbury Hospital for six months.

He found her at imminent risk for self-harm' after Dr. Karin Towers, a forensic psychiatrist reported during the arraignment that Clancy is experiencing 'unbearable depression and trouble getting through each day'.

'It is my opinion that she does require ongoing psychiatric hospitalization,' Towers said after she examined Clancy earlier that morning.

Clancy's next court date has been scheduled for December 15.

Prosecutor Jennifer Sprague provided additional details about the events of January 24, during which a fitness watch tracing Clancy's path from the basement - where she alleged strangled her children with exercise bands - to the second floor.

Investigative affidavits showed the mother cut her wrists and neck before jumping from the second-floor window.

Sprague said the curt were 'superficial' and did not require stitches, carrying doubt on how serious Clancy's suicide attempt was. She added that the wounds were not bleeding by the time her husband had found her.

Sprague mentioned that Clancy appeared to know who she is, emphasizing that there were 'no hallucinations or delusions' in Clancy's notes, where she documented her life and the lives of her children.

Clancy's defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, countered Sprague's argument by saying he 'was able to see the blood that was on the floor, on the wall, on the windowpane' from his client's wounds, in contrast to what Sprague described as a 'dinky cut.'

A court document obtained by DailyMail.com Tuesday revealed that she allegedly researched methods of killing before she strangled her three children to death and attempted to take her own life.

The mother, a labor and delivery nurse, then attempted to take her own life which left her paralyzed from the waist down. She remains in hospital even going as far as to address the court from a hospital bed.

The unsealed affidavit showed that investigators obtained a warrant for her electronic devices, where Clancy would journal about her mental health and feelings about children, but also 'researching ways to kill.'

Clancy was suffering severe postpartum depression and had been prescribed an 'over the top' cocktail of pills that her forgiving husband Patrick Clancy believes are to blame for the tragedy.

The investigators took bottles of diazepam, amitriptyline and trazodone, all antidepressants, from Clancy's home on January 25. All three had been prescribed to her within the last 16 days.

It's also revealed that Clancy's husband, Patrick, was in the basement when police had arrived to check on Lindsay and knew 'something was wrong because his children would not wake up.'

He approached the police and started screaming: 'She killed the kids!' as he made the discoveries, finding two of his children with band around their necks, turning their faces 'blue and purple.'

Authorities did a full search on the home and went through home cameras, receipts, a CVS bag containing a child's laxative Lindsay had asked Patrick to buy, the murder weapons, the knife and several notebooks.

The books included a more full list of medications Lindsay was being prescribed: Zoloft, Valium, Trazodone, Ativan, Klonopin, Prozac and Seroquel. It did not appear she had been given all of these at the same time.

Post partum psychosis is defined by the National Institutes of Health as the severest form of mental illness in that category, and is characterized by extreme confusion, loss of touch with reality, paranoia, delusions, disorganized thought process, and hallucinations.'

It usually occurs within the first six weeks after giving birth and 'warrants immediate medical and psychiatric attention and hospitalization if the risk of suicide or filicide exists.'

Clancy's lawyer, Kevin J Reddington, previously told a judge that the drugs she had been prescribed left her feeling feeling like a 'zombie'.

A chilling audio of the 911 dispatch call made by Patrick that night reveals the extent of the horror.

Patrick found his wife lying outside their home after returning from collecting takeout food for the family.

As first responders arrived on scene and tended to his wife, Patrick could be heard screaming in the home's basement.

There he found the children unconscious and blue with exercise bands around their necks.

The state's chief medical examiner would declare the two older children had died of asphyxia, while little Callan had died from complications from asphyxia.

Clancy was arraigned on February 7 from her Brigham and Women's Hospital bed.

'One of the major issues here is the horrific overmedication of drugs that caused homicidal ideation, suicidal ideation' Reddington said in February.

'They [Lindsay and her husband Patrick] went to doctors repeatedly saying 'please help us.'

'This was turning her into a zombie...the medications that were prescribed were over the top, absolutely over the top.

'She had medical care and treatment on a regular basis. And her husband was very proactive in trying to protect her and help her with the doctors' medication she was prescribed.

'They went through hell — and they didn't come back,' he said.

In a GoFundMe message to friends and strangers who have raised $1million for him, he said: 'I want to ask all of you that you find it deep within yourselves to forgive Lindsay, as I have.

'The real Lindsay was generously loving and caring towards everyone - me, our kids, family, friends, and her patients.

'The very fibers of her soul are loving. All I wish for her now is that she can somehow find peace.'
