Fans' messages included: 'Thank you for always making us laugh' and 'Friends is my comfort show, thanks for the laughs, you will be missed man!
'You are so loved and will be missed for generations. Thank you for being our Friend.'
The actress wrote: 'Two days ago, I woke up to the shocking news that Matthew Perry is no longer with us. It’s taken me a couple of days to process this profound sadness. There is a special bond that happens when you share dreams with someone, and together you work towards them.
'I was very moved last year when Matthew shared on his Instagram stories how much he loved Fools Rush In, and how he thought that that film we did together was probably his best movie. Throughout the years, he and I found ourselves reminiscing about that meaningful time in our lives with a deep sense of nostalgia and gratitude.
'My friend, you are gone much too soon, but I will continue to cherish your silliness, your perseverance, and your lovely heart. Farewell, sweet Matthew, we will never forget you'
The Beverly Hills 90210 wrote on Instagram: 'We were a gang way back. We all grew up together going to the Formosa, North and constantly laughing. We played dare and Matt had to say ridiculous things to girls at the bar.
'We just always had fun and supported each other. You would always find us all together in a booth speaking in our own made up language. And yes, Matt always had THAT sense of humor. Matt and I had a date and it was on Valentine’s Day. He wanted to get a reservation at a restaurant in Malibu but couldn’t so my dad got the reservation for him.
'We went and he talked about my dads Irish persuasiveness the majority of the night. Our friendship spanned a long time. A lifetime really. I know many are hurting, especially our little gang. He will be missed by many and definitely by us. Yes. I could be more poetic or say things better but right now, shock and sadness prevail.'
'Matty was always the funniest person in the room. And the KINDEST. He was kind,' wrote Milano alongside the cllip. 'Matty, remember when we used to go play bingo at that church in the valley? You made me laugh that painful kind of laugh. A cry laugh. You made me cry-laugh. My condolences to all who loved him'
Actress Christina Ricci, who gues starred on Friends as one of Joey's girlfriends, said she never knew Matthew Perry, but has been deeply affected by his death nonetheless.
She wrote: 'I burst into tears when I read the news today. I never met Matthew Perry, but I loved him. Friends saved me numerous times during hard and lonely times in my life. I adored his character and wanted to marry Chandler Bing as a teenager. I watched all his movies.
'He was a genius. I downloaded his book and read the whole thing on my cross country flight today. I’m heartbroken this man suffered so much in life while giving us so much of himself. Read his book. It’s another gift he gave us. If you’re struggling with addiction issues it might just save your life. May he finally rest in peace'
Actor, comedian, and producer Hanz Azaria said late Friends star Matthew Perry helped him get sober.
He wrote on Instagram: 'The night I went into AA, Matthew brought me in... The whole first year I was sober, we went to meetings together… I got to tell him this, as a sober person, he was so caring and giving and wise, and he totally helped me get sober. And, I really wish he could’ve found it in himself to stay with the sober life more consistently.'
Elliot Gound, who played Ross and Monica's father on Friends, wrote: 'I was saddened to hear the news about Matthew Perry‘s passing. I first met Matthew in 1994 when I joined the NBC sitcom Friends.
'Matthew was kind, thoughtful, smart, funny, and just a terrifically, talented actor. Matthew told me he was so honored to be working with me. What he didn’t know until I told him, was that it was my privilege to play his father-in-law.
'My heart goes out to his wonderful family. He will be missed by so many but he will never be forgotten.'
Morgan Fairchild has paid tribute to her TV son, Matthew Perry, after his death at the age of 54.
Speaking on CNN on Monday, Fairchild spoke of her experience playing Nora Bing, describing Perry as 'warm,' 'wonderful, 'funny' and 'creative.'
'We’ve all grown up together... The audience has grown up with Matt as their best friend, the person they wanted to be, the person they wanted to meet, know and have as a friend,' the actress said.
Like many before her, she noted Perry's commitment to helping others in recovery.
'I think that one of the bravest things that he did in his career and his life was to go public, to write this book, to reach out to other people, to try to be of help to other people. And that was one of the most endearing things about him,' she added.

Perry’s 10 seasons on Friends made him one of Hollywood’s most recognizable actors, starring opposite Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer as a friend group in New York.
As Chandler, he played the quick-witted, insecure and neurotic roommate of LeBlanc’s Joey and a close friend of Schwimmer’s Ross. During the show’s hijinks, he could be counted on to chime in with a line like 'Could this BE any more awkward?' or another well-timed quip.
Jennifer Aniston's four-word warning to her Friends co-star Matthew Perry amid his alcohol addiction has resurfaced after his sudden death.
Just last year the actor revealed that he and Jennifer had stayed in each other's lives, and remained in close contact.
'She was the one that reached out the most,' the star said of the actress who played Rachel Green during an interview in October 2022. 'You know, I'm really grateful to her for that.'
Perry went on to reveal that it was Aniston who confronted him first about his addictions during the filming of their hit sitcom when the symptoms were just to evident to ignore.
'We know you're drinking,' Aniston, now 54, told Perry at the time in the four-word warning, during a break in the shooting of Friends back when it was massively popular with fans.
'Yeah, imagine how scary a moment that was,' the actor said of his co-star during the conversation with ABC's Diane Sawyer.
In his own mind, Perry thought he was doing a perfectly fine job hiding his drug and alcohol usage from his co-stars, but at a certain point they all knew he was in trouble and did their best to support him.
'[They] were understanding, and they were patient,' he recalled of the Friends cast. 'It's like penguins. Penguins, in nature, when one is sick, or when one is very injured, the other penguins surround it and prop it up. They walk around it until that penguin can walk on its own. That's kind of what the cast did for me.'
One-time Saturday Night Live writer Kevin Brennan has refused to back down following a huge public backlash after he mocked the death of Matthew Perry on Twitter.
The comedian, 63, tweeted a link to TMZ's coverage of the actor's passing on Saturday with the caption, 'DROWNED IN A HOT TUB. HAHAHAHA.'
Kevin, who hosts a podcast called Misery Loves Company, then replied to a tweet of TMZ's coverage of his comments with the headline 'Ex-SNL Writer-Comedian Kevin Brennan Mocks Matthew Perry's Death.'
On Sunday, he replied: 'I didn’t mock it. I just thought it was funny. But I do love it when junkies die.'
In response to a user who asked Kevin: 'Why is drowning in a hot tub funny?' he replied: 'Because it’s not very deep.'
Kevin faced a wave of criticism for his vile remarks, but refused to back down and continued to make jokes.
He took to Twitter once again on Monday to ask: 'Am I trending yet?'
People reacted in disgust, with one person commenting: 'That’s EXACTLY why I said you would do it, you waste of space!! Anything for attention, even if it’s negative. Enjoy your 90 seconds of fame.'
Another person wrote: 'For reminding people what a loser you are? Yes, yes you are,' while a third echoed: 'He’s literally the only reason anyone is finding out who you are lol so Matthew gets the last laugh.'
A fourth agreed, saying: 'For all the wrong reasons. Who the hell says they “love when junkies die.” Read the room.
Yvette Nicole Brown has opened up about the death of her Odd Couple co-star Matthew Perry.
'It was important for me to speak about Matthew because I know there are so many others who loved him so dearly who cannot right now. The heartbreak I feel is nowhere near what they are surely feeling in this devastating moment. Until they can speak,' Brown said on Twitter while linking to an interview where she spoke about Perry.
'There's been so much talk about his comedy, and his ability to lighten loads with his gift. But his greatest gift was his heart... He did not take himself seriously. He realized that he was extraordinarily blessed,' she told Entertainment Tonight.
The actress recalled the last text she sent Perry, who was beloved in the recovery community for his willingness to help others through addiction.
'I sent him a text to congratulate him because one of his greatest joys later in life was that he was able to help people who had been where he was. I was so proud of him for his sobriety. I was so proud of him for being as vulnerable as he was in his book.'
She added: 'To admit that you're sad, or to admit that you're struggling, or to admit that you're an addict, and you've fallen off the wagon, is very difficult... On The Odd Couple, when we were working with Matthew, we had a front row seat to his struggles, and we loved him, and we wanted to protect him, and we did the best we could while we were working with him.'
An emotional Brown said Perry was 'really lovely,'
'[I hope] that people can see the man behind the comedic legend. And that we can celebrate that his hope and joy was helping others to survive what he fought for most of his life... I hope he's remembered as a fighter. I hope he's remembered as someone that never gave up hope. I hope that he is remembered as... a friend,' Brown said.
'Because he really was... He was a pal. He was a buddy. He was a good time. He was a vibe. You know? So I hope that when people think of him, they'll smile.'
Charlie Puth honored late Friends star Matthew Perry during this weekend in Melbourne, Australia.
Just hours after the tragic news of Perry's death broke on Saturday, Puth played the iconic Friends theme song, I'll Be There For You.
The crowd sang along as Puth transitioned into his 2015 song with Wiz KhalifaWhen I See You Again, which is inspired by a friend's death.
Puth has been open about his love of Friends, and once showed off his knowledge of the sitcome in a quiz handed out by Courtney Cox, who played Monica.
Last winter Perry became gravely ill, a source told DailyMail.com
'We were all worried he would not recover this time. He spent over a month in the hospital, causing him to lose weight and look haggard and worn out.
‘But somehow, as Matthew always seems to do, he survived and held out hope that new job or that new woman was just around the corner.
‘All Matt ever wanted was to be happy,’ says the source. ‘But he was always looking for love and happiness in all the wrong places. How sad that when he died he was reportedly alone.’
The Friends star, 54, longed for stepchildren, thanks to his great relationship with his own stepdad, Dateline's Keith Morrison.
‘He wanted a wife, and at least a couple of kids. And he said he wouldn’t even mind marrying a woman who already had kids,' a source said.
Perry's mother Suzanne and stepfather have been happily married for 42 years.
The actor said Keith always treated him as if he were his own son and it would be great to give a good life to children that belong to someone he loved the way Keith loved his mom - and him.
Matthew Perry was lonely and longing for a wife and a family when he died, after a string of failed relationships left him feeling 'sad and depressed,' sources told DailyMail.com.
He never married and he ended his engagement to Molly Hurwitz, a talent manager, in 2021. He also dated several well-known actresses throughout his life, including Julia Roberts and Lizzy Caplan.
Perry was also mystified by the fact that most of his Friends costars seemed to escape lasting love too, the sources said.
‘Lately the star has been looking for love again. But a string of failed relationships left him feeling sad and depressed, and as if he would never find that love he longed for.
‘Matthew dated dozens of women. But in the end, he always felt they were only interested in his money and his fame. And he was generous to a fault.
‘He would shower women with gifts only to have them pack up their goodies and walk away.
‘In the end I think his years of fighting demons… Drugs and alcohol… Took a toll on him, and on his health, and eventually he would end up alone again.'
Kathleen Turner, who played Chandler's trangender father Helena Handbasket, has reacted to the star's death.
'It's extremely sad when you think about how young [he was] and a pity he couldn't get more control,' she told PEOPLE. 'I can't imagine the pressure those guys lived under being a worldwide phenomenon. It must have been overwhelming.'
The actress said she still gets recognized for her time on the hit show.
'I am still constantly recognized by a certain age group as Chandler's dad,' she shared as she noted how close the show's cast became.
She added: 'I need to emphasize that these kids were a tight group. I was more in and out of his life.
'They were a clique, all of them. They were a very tight knit group.'
Turner has been open about her own complex relatioship with alcohol, telling The Guardian in January that she checked herself into rebah in 2002.
'It was incredibly stupid. I had this thing in my head where I thought: 'I’m not taking pain pills – they are addictive and dangerous." But it was OK to have that second or third vodka.'
Turner said she did not consider herself an acoholic, but stopped drinking for a few years and now has an occational cocktail.
She said: 'I’m not an alcoholic, but I am an abuser [of drink]... I don’t imagine I’ll ever drink like that again.'
Max has added a card honoring Perry, who played Chandler from 1994 until 2004, at the start of each of the show's ten seasons.
'In memory of Matthew Perry 1969-2023,' the card reads, as reported by Variety.
Perry received a primetime Emmy award for his work as Chandler and earned the affection of millions of fans worldwide.
His castmates are yet to issue public stateements on his tragic death at the age of 54.
Doug Draizin, who directed the 1997 filk staring Perry and Salma Hayek, has reacted to the Friends star's death.
The director shared she was with his son at a football game when he learned of the tragic news.
'We’re at the football game and my son looks at me and goes, 'Matt Perry just died,' Draizin told The New York Post. 'The irony of it is [that] my son is the reason we made 'Fools Rush In.'It was about his birth. That’s the reason how this movie organically got made.'
The film, which was Perry's first big-screen role, stars him as a fictionalized version of Draizin. The movie tells Draizin's real-life story with his ex-wife, played by Hayek.
Draizin added: 'His dad, John Bennett Perry, was also in the movie [playing Perry's father] and I remember they had such a reunion on the set, spending that time together.
'Matt came from a very difficult divorce, so having his father there and working together … I know it really made him proud.
'I’ve got this beautiful poster of Matt and Salma Hayek and now, when I look at it, instead of elation I feel sadness... This kid I’m staring at is dead.'
Matthew Perry's regular pickleball partner has told of how he felt 'fatigued' on the day he died, cutting his match short to go home. Hours later he was found dead in his pool in Malibu.
Paying tribute to his friend, Billy Bush, wrote: 'His legacy: hero to fellow sufferers. I think he won his battle with addiction but it was a Pyrrhic victory. It took everything out of him.
'To all of us he’s the guy you wanted to be friends with and to women…the perfect boyfriend. Everyone had a crush on Chandler Bing.'
He went to explain his final movements, speaking of how Perry played pickleball everyday - sometimes twice.
'I spoke to the woman he played with this morning and every morning. She is in shock, adored Matt…she said he had been fatigued today and over the past week. A little more than usual. He played for one hour then went home.'
Around 4pm emergency services were called out to his Malibu property.
Bush added: 'I’m grateful to have known him, admired his courage under the grips of a relentless disease.'
Speaking on Radio 4's Today, British comedian David Baddiel paid tribute to the Friends star.
He said: 'It's quite rare in a sitcom to see someone who's got a very distinctive comic delivery.
'All those actors were brilliant at landing jokes, but Matthew Perry had a way of spinning lines so that he would land with different emphasis.
'That's a very clever way of playing with language that I normally associate with great stand-ups.'

The director of Matthew Perry's 'autobiographical' play The End Of Longing says the actor 'honed his craft' on Friends.
Lindsay Posner said the show, which Perry wrote and starred in, was 'an autobiographical play about addiction'.
'He said to me he would like to be remembered for helping people through the play... helping people to recover.'
Paying tribute to Perry on BBC R4, he said: 'He was always very, very warm and generous, and keen to keep everyone entertained the whole time.
'He was very keen to be thought of as a serious actor, a comic actor.

'You couldn't tell he'd never been on a London stage before.'
