Harrowing footage shows the moment a New York man died after being flung from the hood of a car driven by thieves who stole items from his SUV.
Mauro Chimbay, 43, was seen holding on for dear life on top of the thief's BMW in Queens as they sped off.
Chimbay is then seen slowly losing grip and falling in the middle of the road as the car raced down the road.
The owner suffered severe head trauma and images show blood spilled on the spot he fell.
Officials say the initial break-in attempt happened just after 3pm at 85th Street and 25th Avenue.

The victim was playing volleyball in a park nearby when he saw one of the thieves exit a white BMW and break into his white Toyota Highlander.
The robber then used a tool similar to a hammer to bash into the window of the SUV and opened a back door, which set off the car alarm.
Footage shows multiple people running towards the car while the thief opened the car door, stole a shopping bag full of items and rushed back into his BMW.
At that moment, Chimbay jumped on top of the hood in an attempt to stop them but as the car accelerated, he fell off.
Another surveillance video shows neighbors rushing to the victim's aid after he was toppled off.
The victim had moved to the US from Ecuador about 28 years ago. He is survived by his wife and his two daughters.

His wife, Marjorie Monserrate told Daily News: 'Right now the only thing I can say is that he didn’t deserve this.
'To the people who did this, what could I say? There is nothing that can justify taking another person’s life like this. Because it wasn’t an accidental run-over, they wanted to hurt him.'
The victim’s older brother Francisco Chimbay also said: 'They called me and told me that he was at the court, lying on the ground.
'It was very, very difficult to see him lying on the ground … We’re all human beings and they shouldn’t have done that, (running) the car over my brother. It’s really hard for the family, for everyone.
'They told us they are going to get to the bottom of this and they’re going to get to the perpetrators, because there are videos. There are many videos, because there are many homes and cameras where the car was.'

Police are still looking for two suspects and have not made any arrests.
Witness and Chimbay’s volleyball partner, Kevin Gonzalez told CBS: 'They broke the window of the car, and then they tried to go away with something from the vehicle.
'He was hanging on to the hood of the car, and then he just stopped and when he stopped, he hit himself against the rim of the car over there.'
Chimbay was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/ Elmhurst, where he died.
'It's very surprising 'cause most of the time, the people that are here, it's a very tight community so most of us, we all know each other, so things like this don't really occur around here,' Gonzelez said.
