The crook shot dead during a home invasion in Los Angeles in the early hours of Saturday morning was tried for murder just three months ago, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.

Abednego Adre, 20, of Inglewood, California, died inside a Granada Hills home belonging to plumbing equipment rental boss Ross Parker, 46, while another member of the gang of at least three men who broke into the property was wounded, according to police.

Parker, who is pictured in exclusive DailyMail.com photos for the first time, opened fire after the men barged into his house early on Saturday morning – with the LAPD responding to a 911 call reporting a 'hot prowler' at approximately 5am.

Adre, who was clutching some of Parker's possessions when he was shot, was named during a police press conference on Monday.

Now DailyMail.com can reveal the 20-year-old was no stranger to the law and was arrested and charged with a drive-by shooting murder in Compton in 2021 when he was just 18.

Although a Los Angeles judge decided that prosecutors had enough evidence to send the case to trial, Adre was ultimately acquitted during a trial held in September.

Adre lived in the notorious south LA neighborhood of Inglewood – an area that, according to FBI data, had a violent crime rate 80 per cent above the national average in 2022.

Despite a population of just 100,000 people, that included 17 murders, 1,525 reports of theft, 684 incidences of violent crime and 2,983 home invasions.

By contrast, the northern Granada Hills suburb where Parker lives with his family, is a middle class enclave with a median household income of $83,000.

Nevertheless, neighbors told DailyMail.com that the area is experiencing a spike in home invasions, with one, who asked not to be named, saying that break-ins are running at a rate of one every few days.

The homeowner said: 'There have been loads of burglaries recently. Not in this street but in the area. It's one every couple of days.'

LAPD crime statistics show there have been five home invasions in the past month within a one-mile radius of Parker's house, in addition to 10 thefts from vehicles, five car thefts and one assault with a deadly weapon.

Approached by DailyMail.com at work on Monday, dad-of-one Parker declined to comment on Saturday's home invasion while police said they are continuing to look for the other members of the gang.

Speaking during a news conference shortly after the shooting, LAPD Valley Bureau Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said Adre was shot while confronting Parker inside his modest three-bedroom home.

Hamilton added: 'During that burglary, multiple rounds were fired by the homeowner and the homeowner struck one of the burglary suspects.

'There was a blood trail and we trailed it to the end,' he added. 'We believe there were at least one or two additional suspects involved in this burglary that left this scene, following the shooting by the homeowner.'

Hamilton also acknowledged the rising number of home invasions in the Granada Hills neighborhood and said he believes Adre and his co-conspirators may be responsible for a string of similar crimes in the area.

He said: 'Our Devonshire detectives have been investigating a number of burglaries in this area that have been centered north and south of Rinaldi and we believe this incident is related to that series of crimes.'

The latest outbreak of lawlessness in LA comes less than a month after another homeowner was involved in a shootout with a pair of would-be burglars.

Terrifying footage shows the moment dad-of-one Vince Ricci had a gun pointed at him during an attempted home invasion in LA's affluent Mid-City neighborhood before he pulls out his own pistol and opens fire.

The two burglars are then seen running off while shooting back at Ricci who told Fox Digital the crime rate in LA is 'not normal' in the aftermath of the November 4 incident.

He said: 'Every single person that I know has gotten stuck up. It's not normal.'

Ricci, who had previously been the target of a home robbery, said the suspects were two young men who were seen driving a Dodge Charger without a license plate.

Despite now having had his gun license taken away, Ricci said he doesn't regret shooting at the would-be robbers.

He said: 'I know I didn't do anything wrong, because I had two chances I could have shot both kids in the back.

'I chose not to do it. But in the video, it looks like 'oh, they were running away.' They weren't running. They were firing back at me.'

Ricci added: 'It [the gun] saved our lives. I'm a tough guy but there's only so much I could do against a gun.

'They would have pistol-whipped me, they would have pistol-whipped my wife. They would have come in the house and there's nothing in my house.'
