Comedian Bill Burr is 'going to get a visit from the secret service' after joking that 'with any luck' Biden and Trump will both die before the 2024 election.
The stand-up made the tongue in cheek remarks during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel.
The two were discussing the likely candidates for the next election, with Burr expressing his disdain for both Biden, 81, and Trump, 77, partly due to their age.
'I want somebody in their forties, somebody that's going to have to live with their decisions,' he said.
'With any luck, they'll both die of natural causes before the election and maybe we can get somebody that still has something to live for.'
Bill Burr was warned by Jimmy Kimmel that he might be getting a 'visit from the Secret Service' after he cracked a joke about Trump and Biden dying before the 2024 election
Burr said that ''With any luck, they'll both die of natural causes' before either Trump, 77 or Biden, 81, has another shot at being in office
The comments prompted laughter from the audience, before Kimmel replied: 'Wow, this year you're not going to get a visit from Santa but you are going to get a visit from the Secret Service.'
Burr, 55, then clarified that he only wished for the potential candidates to die 'peacefully'.
He also laid into 'idiot liberals' for indicting the former president and making 'Trump a 'martyr'.
'He's a narcissist,' he told Kimmel on Tuesday night. 'You need neutral energy.
'I think he was a one hit wonder, he wrote the twist, he was on the casino circuit and then you idiot liberals wrote him twist again when you indicted him and now he is a martyr.
'He's coming back. It's gonna be great for comedy.'
But his remarks did not have everyone laughing, with several social media users slamming the joke as in poor taste.
One user on X, formerly Twitter, wrote: 'What a horrible thing to say.'
Until Biden's election, Trump was the oldest person elected to a first term and both have come under scrutiny for their age
Some social media users condemned Burr's remarks as offensive, branding him an 'unfunny jerk'
Burr has been vocal in his opposition to Trump and recently defended his wife Nia Hill after she was caught swearing at the former president at the UFC 295 last month
Another added: 'Bill Burr, you are not funny. Jerk.'
While one man fumed: 'Jimmy Kimmel, why are you wasting my time, yours as well, with Bill Burr? What a useless, no talent and definitely not entertaining punk.'
However others were less upset and praised Burr's 'hilarious' comments.
One person said: 'Oh wow, Bill Burr making deadly jokes about Trump and Biden? That's definitely the kind of comedy we need right now.'
Until Biden's election, Trump was the oldest person elected to a first term and both have come under scrutiny for their age.
Burr has not been shy about criticizing Trump and last month defended his wife for flipping off the ex-president at the UFC 295.
Cameras caught Nia Renee Hill, sitting near Trump, swearing at the former Commander-in-Chief when he was in shot.
Burr expressed his support for his 'hilarious' wife, saying: 'I love my wife, you know where you stand with her.
'The guy walked into the arena, everybody cheered, she gave him the finger, nobody got arrested. That's why this country's great!'
