Temperatures are set to dramatically drop in the South to below freezing with some snow forecasted ahead of the new year.
The storm in the Plains which led to blizzard conditions has moved down the country and will cause colder conditions.
'This low has been pretty much a troublemaker, wherever it is across the northern Plains now, moving into the south,' FOX Weather Meteorologist Kiyana Lewis said.
'This cooler air mass filters in behind it, and we'll see a lot of areas, where typically around this time of the year would be associated with warmer weather – Florida being one of those areas, that we watch closely towards the end of the week. Look at these lows back into the thirties, low twenties.'
The cold air is moving into the Southeast this weekend and temperatures will be up to 20 degrees below average for this time of year.
New York City will be warmer than New Orleans ahead of the New Year preparations and the weather in Key West and Miami won't make it to 70 degrees.
For much of the weekend these areas will experience freezing temperatures and highs will reach up to 50 degrees.
Other southern cities including Memphis, Nashville, Huntsville and Georgia are predicted to see snow fall on Friday night into Saturday.
'With this timing, the precip is looking to line up with the colder temps as it looks to come through with temps in the 28-32 degree range for north GA,' meteorologists at the National Weather Service office in Atlanta wrote.
'Ultimately expecting a rain snow mix at this time for north GA with accumulations generally <0.5 in, but higher elevations could see up to 1 in, potentially.'
The Nashville office has forecasted for up to an inch of snow falling in the area which would make bridges and overpasses slippery.

Heavy rain which has pummeled New Jersey and Pennsylvania in recent days is set to push into New England late on Thursday.
The wet weather has triggered flooding after leaving widespread rainfall which measured multiple inches.
There were more than 60 reports received of heavy rain and flooding on Wednesday in areas from northern Maryland across eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Several streets were closed due to standing water including New Jersey Highway 91 and Pennsylvania State Highway 32.
There still flood warnings in effect for some rivers in New Jersey and Philadelphia which recorded up to three inches of rainfall.
The slow-moving system means there is still a chance of rain until Saturday morning.
'Maybe you're traveling. Maybe you're heading home,' FOX Weather Meteorologist Stephen Morgan said.
'AAA is expecting that Thursday is going to be one of the busiest days as folks are going to be hitting the road, heading back home Thursday.
'Wednesday into Thursday is going to be also the wettest day of this week. So, we'll watch that along that I-95 corridor.'
But there will be dry conditions in some areas in the northeast as we enter the New Year.
'Don't be deceived by this – these next three days – because in New York City, things are going to be improving,' Morgan said.
'We're dealing with the cloudy, sort of gloomy conditions followed by the rain, but, overall, we're going to see things dry out for the New Year.'
However areas inland including West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Buffalo are facing rainfall while snow is forecast from western New York into the Appalachians.
