Supporters showed up in droves for a Florida honors student who confessed to killing his mother that made a court appearance for a standard status hearing on Thursday.

Derek Rosa, 13, allegedly admitted to stabbing his mother, Irina Garcia, 39, over 40 times and slashing her neck on October 12 in a 911 call.

At the hearing a judge ordered a unredacted version of that tape be handed over to the defense and that the Metro West Detention Center, the adult jail he is being held at, provide biweekly updates on his school and recreation, reported NBC 6.

Dozens of supporters have shown up in court for Rosa, including his maternal grandmother and father.

On Thursday, a group of mothers and grandmothers came to court wearing t-shirts stating, 'he is not an adult, he is a boy,' 'justice for Derek,' and 'we are all Derek.'

Gladimar Lizcano, a supporter, said: 'For us it’s very important he goes to class. Goes to therapy. He goes to patio. It’s really important for a kid 13-years-old. That’s all that matters. And we are here to fight for his rights.'

Supporters in court did not comment on if they thought Rosa is innocent, just that they want him to be treated like a child.

Rosa is being tried as an adult and has pleaded not guilty to this charges. His attorneys are seeking to have him juvenile detention center while he waits trial.

There is a Change.Org petition called 'Save Derek Rosa' that claims his is innocent and states, 'I Plea For Justice For This Beautiful Young Man, Who Looks Innocent Only Because He Is Innocent, Please Help Him, God Bless This Young Man And Justice For Derek.'

During an earlier a pre-trial hearing in December prosecutors played a recording of Rosa speaking to a detective directly after the stabbing, where he said: 'I woke up, I grabbed one of the kitchen knives and I went to her room... I killed her.'

After hearing the disturbing tape, Miami Dade Circuit Judge Richard Hersch ordered the teen to be held in an adult jail, the Miami-Dade Metro West detention center, until his trial which is now scheduled for February 26.

At a separate hearing, prosecutors shared harrowing babycam footage showing Rosa standing over his sleeping mother in her bed, moments before he allegedly stabbed her 46 times.

The 13-year-old was seen in eerie black and white images looming over his mom with a time stamp at 11pm. Rosa called 911 to report the murder around 11:30pm.

Another haunting photo released by investigators shows Garcia in her bed, cradling her 14-day-old baby, at 10:23pm the same evening. Investigators believe she was fast asleep when the attack began.

Officers have detailed finding a grisly scene when they arrived at the home, with Garcia left splayed on the floor with dozens of knife wounds, including a slashed artery in her neck.

Laying near to the deceased mother was her two-week-old baby still laying in her crib.

Rosa is also accused of sending a smiling selfie to a friend directly after the killing, where he was sticking his tongue out with what appears to be blood smeared on his hands.

Police said after taking the pictures, Rosa asked a dispatcher if the move was 'bad'.

Rosa, with his hands covered in blood, is seen making a 'hang loose' surfer gesture of friendship. The photo is believed to be the one he sent to his friend before calling 911
