An American woman living in the UK has teased British people for not understanding US geography - after her pals from overseas asked to visit her in Michigan before taking a 'day trip' to New York City.
Bateman Solms, 22, moved from rural Michigan to St Andrews, Scotland, in 2020 and has since begun posting regularly about her life abroad on her TiKTok channel, where she has over 52,000 followers.
Most recently, she took to the video-sharing platform and claimed that those living in the UK have no clue how America is set up because they are so used to driving or taking the train from country to country.
She recalled the 'sweet' moment her friends offered to visit her in Northern Michigan - noting that they could fly into Chicago and then take the 'train' or 'ferry' to see her - leaving Bateman stunned by their lack of understanding when it comes to locations in the USA.

'I genuinely think a lot of people in the UK don't have a grasp of how big the US is or how disconnected we are as a country,' she said at the beginning of the clip.
She noted that she goes to university in Scotland, however, spends her summers in Michigan.
This year some of her pals from college offered to visit her back in the States during the break.
She said: 'Some of my friends were talking about visiting me over the summer. They're talking and they're like, "Oh maybe we could fly into Chicago and then would it be easier for us to take the bus or the train to you?"
'Which first of all, so sweet, and I was like, "Oh there's not really a bus or a train."'
Then, her friends asked if they could take a ferry instead.
'No we're going to drive, you could fly, but I'm going to drive and it's going to take like five hours for me to come get you, but I'll drive,' she added.
However, Bateman's shock didn't end there, she noted that she understood that her pals were unaware of how big America really is as they tried to plan a day trip.

She added: 'They were like, "Maybe we could go to New York City for a day trip."'
Bateman started giggling as she was clearly in shock and added: 'So sweet.'
She captioned the clip: 'Extra points for one of them guessing it takes 24 hours to drive from the East Coast to the West Coast.'

One person said: 'I can't even take a day trip to New York City and I live in New York.'
Someone else added: 'And they’ll make fun of Americans for thinking that two English cities that are two hours apart are close together.'
Another person commented: 'I heard a travel agent on here talking about running into this all the time with Europeans. They truly don't have a clue.'
'You can drive for ten hours and still be in Texas when you started your drive in Texas,' added someone else.
