Trump PAC says 'rapists' and 'drug traffickers' are coming across the border and 'poisoning our country' in new ad attacking Nikki Haley for refusing to call illegal immigrants 'criminals' with seven days until Iowa

Former President Donald Trump's Super PAC revived his explosive 2015 line that migrant 'rapists' were pouring into the country, this time in a new attack ad going after Republican primary rival Nikki Haley

The attack ad shows migrants massing at the border, then calls out the Repiufor refusing to call people who jump across the border 'criminals.'

'Drug traffickers. Rapists. Poisoning our country. But Nikki Haley refused to call illegals "criminals,"' says the female announcer.

The ad by the pro-Trump Make America Great Again, Inc. super PAC then plays a short clip of Haley saying, 'We don’t need to talk about them as criminals. They’re not.'

'Illegals are criminals, Nikki – that’s what illegal means,' fires back the announcer.

The snip comes from Haley's 2015 remarks to the Aspen Institute, where she called for being a 'country of laws' and building a wall, but then said 'we don't need to be disrespectful' in describing people who 'have a heart, too.'

The ad continues: 'Haley even opposed Trump’s wall. And Haley repeatedly pushed amnesty for illegals ... Nikki Haley. Too weak – too liberal – to fix the border.'

The attack comes just a week before the Iowa Caucuses, where Trump holds a substantial lead over all of his GOP rivals, including Haley. But she has crept up on him in New Hampshire, which holds the nation's first primary election later this month.

Haley trailed Trump by more than 30 points in a Fox Business Iowa poll released last week.

It comes in a race where illegal immigration features to be a top issue in the general election, with 300,000 migrants processed across the border in December.

The ads 'rapist' comments echo Trump's incendiary line at the 2015 launch of his successful 2016 campaign while blasting Mexico.

'They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people,' Trump said.

Haley's 2015 remarks, highlighted by the MAGA War Room,  were as follows: 'I think that what we have to remember, and I have always believed, is that we are a country of laws, that's what makes us strong. We have to always be a country of laws. So it's incredibly frustrating for a lot of people when they see the illegal immigrants being able to come across. It really is astonishing that after all of these years, D.C. hasn't figured out how to build a wall. It really is, after all of what they spend.'

'Having said that, we are a country of immigrants. I am a proud daughter of Indian parents that reminded us every day how blessed we are to live in this country. They resent when people come here illegally. But let's keep in mind, these people that are wanting to come here, they want to come here for a better life, too,' she said.

'They have kids, too. They have a heart, too. So, we don't need to be disrespectful. We don't need to talk about them as criminals — they're not. They're families that want a better life, and they're desperate to get here. What we need to do is make sure that we have a set of laws that we follow, and that we go through with that.
