A TikTok user is getting the backing of the internet after saying he was forced to spend $150 on mozzarella sticks when out to dinner with friends - leaving him with not enough money to Uber home.

Steve Guarino shared in a January 6 video that he allegedly spent $150 on mozzarella sticks and water after he split the restaurant bill with friends. His friends, who clearly ordered more than just apps, agreed to split the bill evenly, leaving Guarino with the expensive dish.

Guarino admitted in the video caption that he could not afford an Uber because of the money he spent.

'POV taking your broke a** home after your friends split the check evenly even though I got mozz sticks and they got the lobster,' he wrote in the video.

The video's racked in more than 430,000 views in less than two weeks and is one of Guarino's most popular videos on his handle @stevie2chains

Guarino, who according to his Instagram and TikTok bios, is from New York, did not say how many friends he was with or where he went to eat.

However, the seemingly expensive order may not be a surprise since Blue Book Services indicated menu prices in New York City increased by 16 percent in 2023.

TikTok users who commented on the video have not shamed the spender but have shamed the friends. Others have suggested ideas on how to avoid this issue in the future.

Guarino did not interact with many TikTok users, but he did respond to a comment with a likely joke.

Guarino, a New Yorker, did not say how many friends he went out with or where they all went out to eat. He's hardly interacted with TikTokers who commented on the video

Social media has written ideas as to how Guarino can avoid this issue next time. Some have even dissed his friends for making him pay that much

Meaghan Dorothy wrote that she skipped a dinner because she doesn't drink and is not chipping in for 'Tina's 5th margarita.'

Guarino commented with a laughing emoji and wrote: 'Tina needs to chill.'

Some users suggested that servers be pulled aside prior to the check and some users had a conversation on why separate checks may not have worked.

'Every place doesn't do separate checks esp for big groups,' wrote a TikToker.

'You bring cash, or I've talked to the waitress to pay for mine, paid at the bar.'

One user commented they use the Plates app and that 'it calculates the tax and tip based on what you order.'
