A terrified mom recounted the moment a suspect broke into her car and then pounced on her and her two-year-old daughter.

'All I saw was a hand and a bald guy,' Mikayla Ferguson told THV11. 'I was trying to get her out. I started screaming for help. My mom started screaming for help.'

Ferguson, who is seven months pregnant, had returned from her shopping at a Walmart in Sherwood, Arkansas. She was with her mom on Monday evening and the two went to their car in the parking lot.

The mom strapped her daughter in before realizing a stranger was lurking under a pile of clothes in the passenger seat.

That is when the suspect, who was hiding under a pile of clothes, pounced and tried to grab the toddler. Witnesses helped stop the suspect from getting away and police were called to the scene.

Timothy Caudle, 58, was arrested and has now been charged with the attempted kidnap the toddler, who he did not know.

Ferguson said she also ran into the Walmart to try to raise the alarm with employees about the incident- but they whipped their phones out to film her ordeal instead of helping.

'There's a group of kids at Walmart that works there that I ran up to screaming, crying to call 911,' Ferguson told THV11.

'They just looked at me. They looked at me like I was stupid, pulled out their phones and started videoing me.'

When someone eventually called the cops, Ferguson said her mother and a Good Samaritan held the doors closed so the suspect couldn't escape.

Footage of the incident shows how Caudle appeared to hide under a blanket or some clothes on the front seat.

Ferguson said her car was locked when she left for her grocery shop, although it's unclear how Caudle got in.

Sherwood Police Department confirmed they received the 911 call at around 7.07pm and  found Caudle, from Jacksonville, in Ferguson's vehicle.

He was pictured sitting on the ground in the parking lot beside Ferguson's vehicle with his hands cuffed behind his back after being arrested by cops.

Caudle, a bald white male with a skinhead, a gray beard and small tattoo on his neck, appeared expressionless in his police booking photograph.
