Malmstrom Air Base in Montana has lifted their lockdown order following an active shooter alert.
The base's Facebook page ordered all staff to shelter in place after the alert went out at 10:29am CST Thursday, although no further details of the incident in Great Falls have been released.
A training exercise was scheduled to take place today - but Air Force Officials say the active shooter alert is a 'real-world situation' and not connected to that test.
The air base confirmed the shooter was still active at 2.30pm, but refused to comment further.
An alert put out on their Facebook page said: 'REAL WORLD ACTIVE SHOOTER
'Malmstrom Air Force Base has entered a lockdown status as of 10:29 AM on February 15 in response to an active shooter alert on base. The safety of our personnel is of the utmost priority and updates will continue to come from official channels.
'At this time, it is advised to shelter in place.'

Local schools have also been ordered to shelter in place while an investigation into the alert continues.
Great Falls Police Department put out a Facebook alert saying: 'INCIDENT IN PROGRESS! Community members may see a large police presence on the far east end of town. We are responding, with Cascade County Sheriff/Coroner's Office, to reports of an incident that may be occurring on Malmstrom Air Force Base.
'All Great Falls Public Schools east/south of the river are in shelter in place (SIP). We recommend all private schools and day care facilities also go into SIP
'WE DO NOT HAVE MORE INFORMATION THAN THIS RIGHT NOW, we will update this post as quickly as information is available
'DO NOT CALL 911 UNLESS YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY TO REPORT!'
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte and other local lawmakers have posted about the incident on X.
Gianforte wrote: 'We have been in contact with General Hronek regarding the reports of an active shooter alert on the Malmstrom Air Force Base.
'I will continue to monitor the situation with the general.'
Montana Senator Jon Tester wrote: 'I have spoken with base leadership about reports of an active shooter at Malmstrom Air Force Base and will continue to track this developing situation closely.'
Montana Congressman Matt Rosendale also posted about the alert on X, writing: 'My staff and I are closely monitoring the active shooter development at Malmstrom Air Force Base.
'Praying for the safety of those on base and the law enforcement quickly responding to this situation.'
Malmstrom Air Base sits just east of Great Falls along Route 87.
