Players within Major League Baseball have been critical of the new jerseys they're set to wear this year - which have been made by Fanatics and designed by Nike.

Both the players and the fans have been up in arms since the start of spring training and have criticized the quality of the uniforms their favorite teams have been given.

It's gotten so bad that MLB Players Association executive director Tony Clark told The Athletic there was 'frustration' over the jerseys from the players and that the union will be looking to see if adjustments can be made.

'Any time there's change, there's an adjustment period. Sometimes that adjustment period goes well, sometimes not so much,' Clark said.

'In this instance, there appear to be some misses that could have otherwise not been misses.'

Some players have been very open in their appraisal of the Fanatics' uniforms.

One player on the Baltimore Orioles told the Baltimore Banner last week that they, 'look... like a knockoff jersey from TJ Maxx.'

Philadelphia Phillies star shortstop Trea Turner was quoted as saying, 'I know everyone hates them.'

The league claims that the new jerseys will improve mobility while being more breathable and comfortable.

Angels outfielder Taylor Ward disagrees: 'It feels kind of like papery.

'It could be great when you're out there sweating, it may be breathable. But I haven't had that opportunity yet to try that out.

'But from the looks of it, it doesn't look like a $450 jersey. So far, thumbs down.'

Fanatics says they don't have a say in the uniforms' design. The company has produced MLB's Nike-designed jerseys since 2017, but 2024 will mark the first year for the so-called Nike Vapor Premier jerseys.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, who recently announced that he will step down in 2029, told the AP that he expected criticism to die down once players get used to the jerseys.

'We are on the phone with the requisite parties that are involved in making that decision because we aren't,' Clark said.

'We're trying to make sure our guys have what they need in the fashion that they need it. And it's reflective of what being a major-league ballplayer should be reflective of.

'It's an ongoing dialogue. Hopefully, we can get some things done over the course of the next six weeks of spring training.

'Because I'd hate to be in a place where we're still having conversations about some of the challenges we have in that regard once the lights come on.'
