Thursday's hard-fought Rangers-Devils game in Newark gave way to a violent outburst in the crowd, where one New Jersey fan was seen headbutting a Blue Shirt supporter before being ejected.
The incident played out in the opening period with the first-place Rangers leading 2-0 en route to a 5-1 victory.
The Devils fan, wearing a Jack Hughes' replica No. 86 jersey, is seen arguing with another man in a winter jacket along a stairway in one of the lower sections at Prudential Center.
With the action continuing on the ice, two more fans enter the fray in an attempt to keep the peace.
Then, as someone off screen yells 'beat his a**,' the Devils fan launched a headbutt over the stairway railing; and although it's unclear if he connected, the Rangers fan did ultimately fall backwards under a flurry of punches.

The post by Eric Morey showed two rival NHL fans coming to blows at the Prudential Center
Security tried to pull the two apart, but the Rangers fan wasn't done and threw a right cross of his own, which didn't appear to do any damage.
By that point, the railing dividing the two combatants proved insurmountable, and security was able to separate theme easily. Only instead of ejecting both, it was only the Devils fan who was shown the door.
'I didn't start s***,' the said as he was guided up the stairs towards the exit.
'Go home, buddy, go home,' a voice is heard yelling from off screen.
While Thursday was a home game for the Devils, there was a sizable Rangers contingent in the crowd, given the proximity of the two Hudson River rivals.
And that wasn't the only violence in Newark on Thursday.

Rempe was tossed for the second time since making his NHL debut earlier this week
Bastian sat up and against the wall after colliding with Rempe hear the end of the first period
Rangers 6-foot-7 rookie Matt Rempe was ejected after a questionable hit on the Devils' Nathan Bastian, whose head was pinned against the boards. Bastian sustained a head injury and suffered a bloody nose, prompting teammate Jonas Siegenthaler to challenge Rempe to a fight.
Earlier this week, Rempe got into a scrap with Islanders bruiser Matt Martin in front of 80,000 fans at MetLife, just seconds into his NHL debut.
Rempe was already making league history as the first player to make his NHL debut in an outdoor game, and he likely set the record for the quickest fight into a career and therefore the quickest penalty.
Less than 90 seconds into the Empire State rivalry clash - in front of just shy of 80,000 fans in New Jersey - Martin and Rempe lined up across from each other at center ice for a faceoff.
The fight lasted around 30 seconds, as both players threw punches without wearing gloves.
