The widow of the pilot killed in a horrific plane crash over the Pacific is suing Google's co-founder because his private plane was allegedly 'illegally put together.'

Sergey Brin's twin-engine aircraft plummeted into the Pacific Ocean on May 20, 2023, while trying to get back to Half Moon Bay after setting out for the businessman's private island in Fiji

The two people on board, both pilots, died as a result of the fuel system malfunction that cause the plane to crash.

Maria Magdalena Olarte Maclean, the widow of 65-year-old pilot Lance Maclean, has now filed a complaint against Brin for wrongful death and interfering with the recovery of the remains.

The fuel system was illegally put in place, lacked the proper paperwork and was installed 'from memory,' the complaint alleges.

She has listed Google, the company responsible for maintaining the aircraft along with its aviation director, the company that installed the fuel system and Brin's investment firm as co-defendants in the complaint.

Despite Brin not being on the aircraft himself, Olarte Maclean is accusing Brin's agents of lying to her by saying they could not legally recover the bodies because of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration constraints - which don't exist, according to the complaint.

The widow claims that Brin delayed the recovery of her husband's body and the aircraft wreckage in order to bury evidence that would prove the fuel system was illegally installed.

The aircraft was en route to Brin's private island in Fiji before it crashed over the Pacific Ocean. Brin's island is the Cast Away island, also known as Monuriki.

Both Brin and his Google co-founder Larry Page own islands in Fiji, with Page's being the remote and beautiful Tavarua Island.

A spokesperson for Brin's family office told NBC, 'We are deeply saddened by the loss of the crew piloting the De Havilland DCH6-400 Twin Otter airplane, and our sympathies remain with the families. We are not able to comment on pending legal action at this time.'

Brin concluded his divorce with Nicole Shanahan, an attorney and entrepreneur, after allegations of her involvement with Elon Musk.

The divorce filing came about just a month after allegations surfaced of Shanahan's relationship with the Tesla CEO, who is a long-term friend of Brin.

Both Musk and Shanahan denied any romantic relationship but the Wall Street Journal reported that Musk's friendship with Brin was 'ruptured' by the 'alleged affair'.

The heartbroken widow blasted the tech multi-billionaire over her husband's body still languishing at the bottom of the Pacific back in June, 2023.

Olarte Maclean – who is herself a pilot – condemned the Google guru, telling DailyMail.com: 'He could have done much more. I have been in agony for weeks.'

Shortly after the crash, Bayshore Global said in a statement: 'We send our deepest condolences to the families of the crew on board. We are providing the families with assistance and will continue to do so as long as needed.'

Brin stepped down as president of Google's parent company Alphabet in December 2019, but remains a board member and controlling shareholder.

The widow was also heartbroken that the Coast Guard did not pull the two pilots free when the swimmer reached the plane, which came down in Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco.

He was able to pull the leg of one of the fliers, but could not free either man from the cockpit without going all the way inside – which the Coast Guard has told DailyMail.com is against protocol.

The plane took off from Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, California, at 8.05am on May 20, initially bound for Honolulu, Hawaii, on the first leg of a run to move it to Fiji.

It was destined to be used in the South Pacific for Brin or his guests to go island hopping, Maria said she was told. The tycoon has vacationed there before.

But flight tracking records reveal the plane headed back to the Santa Rosa area four hours later with a suspected fuel starvation problem.

Olarte Maclean met her husband in her native Colombia 22 years ago while she was flying VIPs and presidential hopefuls around the South American country and he was a commercial pilot.

He handled Phantom fast jets during his five years in the Navy before moving into a variety of aviation roles, including hunting down narco-traffickers in South America and fighting wildfires in Montana. He also spent time in Afghanistan helping to train Air Force pilots.

The couple set up home in Naples, Florida - where Lance grew up and went to high school - after marrying 17 years ago.

Maria described her last conversations with her husband on the fateful day and her battle for his remains.

'Those flights of around 10 hours over water always make me scared,' she said. 'As a pilot myself and a wife, I am always scared when my husband flies. So I track him to see what is happening.
