Eight people are killed in horror crash on California highway after van collides with pick-up truck

Eight people have been killed in a horror crash on a California highway after a van collided with a pick-up truck. 

The incident took place Friday morning near Avenue 7 and Road 22 in Madera County, according to California Highway Patrol. 

According to initial reports, seven of the victims were passengers in the van, while one victim came from the pickup truck. 

Dramatic footage captured at the scene shows a demolished van next to the truck, displaying significant front-end damage. 

Emergency responders, including CHP and fire officials are on sight, along with a large police presence in the area of the accident. Surrounding roads are closed. 

The cause of the crash has not yet been disclosed. This is a developing story.
