Northwestern University ordered students to 'run, hide, fight' in response to an active threat on its Evanston Campus following reports of gunfire.
The official X account for the Illinois school posted shortly before midnight: 'There is an Active Threat event on the Evanston Campus. Run, Hide, Fight. Take proper shelter. Lock and/or barricade doors. Await further information.'
'Northwestern Police are on scene investigating reports of shots fired near 70 Arts Circle Dr on the Evanston campus,' the university wrote.
The university issued an 'all clear' message at 11:44 pm and confirmed no injuries have been reported.
Police are still urging students to avoid the area.
'All clear issued following report of shots fired near 70 Arts Circle Dr in Evanston. No injured person located. Police remain on scene investigating. Continue to avoid the area,' the university announced.
