The View's Ana Navarro opened up about the somewhat harsh realities of trying to maintain a healthy sex life while going through menopause during a very candid conversation on Monday's show - in which she also hinted that she and husband Al Cárdenas have resorted to using 'medication' to keep the passion alive in their marriage.
During a frank discussion about a man who wrote into a newspaper's advice column and revealed he hadn't had sex with his wife in 10 years, 52-year-old Ana decided to share her own experience live on air.
When her co-host Whoopi Goldberg suggested that the man's wife might be going through the menopause, Ana was quick to insist that the condition does not have to mean the end of intimacy.
'Listen, as somebody who is in the middle of menopause, there's all sorts of medication and things you can do,' she said.
The View 's Ana Navarro appeared to hint at her sex life with her husband Al Cárdenas during Monday's episode of the ABC show
The 52-year-old confirmed that she is in the 'middle of menopause' as the panel discussed dwindling sex between married couples
Ana claimed 'there's all sorts of medication' that can help menopausal women in the bedroom
She then added: 'And I think that instead of writing into whatever advice column, they need to go see a sex therapist or a marriage counselor!' before Whoopi fired back: 'Or maybe it's just done!'
'Sometimes it's just over! Sometimes it's just finished, and if she hasn't initiated anything in ten years, dude, it's time to go!' the Sister Act star went on as their co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin giggled off camera.
'It ain't gonna get better!' Ana then claimed, as Whoopi corrected her and blurted out: 'No, no it might, but don't count on it!'
The 68-year-old Academy Award winner, who has been divorced three times, did not hold back when it came to discussing stale sex in marriages.
Leading the discussion, she said: 'This guy who's been married for 27 years, he wrote in to The Washington Post advice column after his wife told him she no longer has any interest in having sex with him.
'However, she also said that he cannot cheat either which would be grounds for divorce. The husband thinks she's trying to bait him into leaving her so she's not the bad guy, but once the sex is over, is the marriage over too...' she continued before she realized the question and yelled: 'Oh, child, no!
'No! Because if it were over, nobody would stay married! One run of bad sex... everybody would be gone, no! Listen, sometimes it's premier and sometimes it's just...' Whoopi added, as her co-host Sara Haines butted in and joked: 'Sometimes it's coach!'
'She's not trying to bait, she's trying to leave!' Whoopi claimed, referring to the man's wife, before she advised him to 'let this chick go!' as Sara, 46, questioned: 'What did he do to throw down that kind of gauntlet?'
'He might not have done anything, she might be in the middle of menopause,' Whoopi suggested as mother-of-three Sara fired back: 'Yeah, but he says, "she hasn't [initiated] in ten years, no sex, if you do outside of the marriage, I'm gone", there's more going on here!' which Alyssa, 34, agreed with.
Whoopi Goldberg led the topic of conversation about a man who hasn't had sex with his wife in 10 years
Ana got frank during the discussion and referenced her own marriage as Sunny Hostin (right) stayed fairly quiet
The TV star and her husband Al will celebrate their five year wedding anniversary on March 2
Of course, this isn't the first time The View panel have discussed such racy topics on the show - and last year, Whoopi left their executive producer Brian Teta cringing when she discussed the difficulties of having sex in a swimming pool.
During a conversation about sex on vacation, Whoopi admitted that she thinks 'sex on the beach is overrated' and then went into a bit too much detail about her past experiences.
'Because, you know, if you tried to have sex in the pool, you know that's not easy because you're trying to up the hill and you're getting resistance from the water that is within...' Whoopi claimed.
The rest of the panel were stunned and laughed nervously as Whoopi continued: 'Because when you're in the pool, you are surrounded in the water... have you ever tried to put anything...' but her co-host Joy Behar quickly told her: 'Watch it now!'
Alyssa then predicted the show would be cut to a commercial as Whoopi turned to their producer and said: 'Oh you're trying to move me on now, right? You tell me get engaged in the conversation, then I start to get engaged, then you want me to stop talking!'
'Because they're scared!' Joy, 81, claimed as Sunny Hostin joked: 'I was learning things though.'
