The Mega Millions jackpot is teetering on reaching $600 million as the one-time cash option climbs to $265.4 million.

The grand prize rose by $38 million to hit an estimated $563 million after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn on Friday night.

The winning Mega Millions numbers from Friday were 4, 6, 40, 41 and 60, and the Mega Ball was 11.

The next chance players have at snapping up the Mega Millions jackpot will be on Tuesday.

Mega Millions said it 'would be the eighth largest jackpot in the nearly 22-year history of the game' if someone is the lucky winner. The largest-ever jackpot, $1.602 billion, was won in 2023.

In December, two tickets in California shared a $394 million windfall after winning the grand prize.

The increase approaching $600 million came three days after the lottery announced that the jackpot had passed the half-billion-dollar mark for the first time this year. Mega Millions said this point had been crossed in two instances over the past 12 months.

Two passed the billion-dollar mark last year, with one reaching $1.348 billion in January and another hitting $1.602 billion in August.

Players have a 1 in 302,575,350 chance of scooping a Mega Millions jackpot.

Earlier this month, someone failed to claim the winnings for a $36 million Mega Millions jackpot before the 180-day deadline.

The lottery ticket, purchased at a Publix supermarket in Jacksonville, Florida, expired on February 11, with no one coming forward to collect the eight-figure grand prize.
