A luxurious bunker for the ultra rich is being built as the ideal hideaway for any wealthy billionaires in search of a doomsday sanctuary - and will come complete with a ring of fire, an escape tunnel, and even water cannons for protection against intruders.

In a bid to offer the most exclusive form of protection amid rising reports of conflict, climate change, possible nuclear attacks and mass shootings, billionaires are being given the chance to invest in a spot inside the extravagant bunker.

While traditional preppers ready themselves for the worst by stocking up on food and creating escape routes, the uber wealthy have been given a much more lavish alternative in the space, which will come equipped high-tech medical and decontamination rooms, and secret safety doors.

With construction underway, the home will also feature electrical fencing, as well as powerful water cannons that shoot out from 500 feet away to keep everyone off the property.

The unique bunker aims to protect assets and anyone inside from the outside world – and the construction company, which has yet to reveal pricing for the space, claims the shelter can withstand a blast 'one mile from ground zero.'

To access the home, there's a swing bridge that covers the 30-foot deep moat that surrounds the compound, and can be used on non-attack days for jet skis and paddle boards.

Inside the fort, there's a tunnel, armed with flame throwers and gassing systems, that leads through to a steel-shut entrance gate.

There is also a steel escape tunnel, a lavish lounge, and decontamination booths to help keep people safe and happy.

The water cannons outside the property can take down parachutes, helicopters, and more.

The company, SAFE, also known as Strategically Armored and Fortified Environments, specializes in creating custom and secure designs for those with a healthy bank balance.

While the project is still under construction, with more than 80 per cent complete, there's still lots of work to do – and it's cost millions so far.

Al Corbi, president and founder of Virginia-based SAFE, told The Hollywood Reporter that the company catered towards the mega-rich.

'A lot of these guys are buying up King Air or older planes that don't have the electronic avionics, and keeping one or two older cars built before 1986 in their collection, so they'll still function in an EMP [electromagnetic pulse],' Al said.

'The newness is it's shifting from the idea of nuclear ka-boom to protection against local threats.

'The real threat is the power grid, which is ironically the plot of Leave The World Behind. In situations like this, sustaining your life is as important as food and water.'

He noted that the bunker had cost millions of dollars and he wasn't done yet.

Al revealed that he planned to build even more evacuation routes.

'All types of extraction devices and systems, but that really isn't something I can talk about; let's just say, on all the super-yachts, there are helicopters and submarines,' he told the outlet.

The car then drives up to the gate, and on the way passes cameras, high-intensity light flashes, and retractable bollards.

There's a communication system to get in and high-voltage electrical fencing on top of the fort.

Another clip shows what it will be like once you're past the steel gate, with a long driveway leading to the moat.

There is then the swing bridge, which turns to take you onto the other side of the water.

Along with the perimeter retaining walls, there is also thorn vegetation and water cannons on the other side of the moat.

SAFE isn't the first company to build billionaire bunkers, others such as Creative Home Engineering, and Vivos - who made headlines previously for its lavish underground  bunker that boasted a pool, roomy bedrooms, and an arcade area.
