A 'heartbroken' Adele fan today revealed how the British megastar has left him almost $5,000 out of pocket after she cancelled her gigs in Las Vegas next month - two years after she shelved a swathe of shows he was also meant to attend.

Gabriel Dubé-Mendez, 32, from Quebec, believes that airlines and hotels serving Sin City should have an 'Adele clause' allowing people an easy refund on rooms because of her propensity to axe her concerts.

He has also slammed the lack of compensation for fans given she is thought be earning around $1.9million (£1.5m) per show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace until the residency ends in June. Tickets start at around $600 (£500) and go up to $7,500 (£6,000).

The 35-year-old London-born singer has now axed three sets of major shows due to various health and production problems in recent years. Fans caught up in the latest farrago won't be able to get an automatic refund because she has not cancelled the ten concerts - just rescheduled them.

Mr Dubé-Mendez was due to fly in from Canada for her March 30 show. His trip next month was rearranged after he went to Vegas in January 2022 but she cancelled on that occasion too - just hours before she was due to perform - because she reportedly had issues with the set design, leaving him 'heartbroken'.

He told MailOnline today: 'I had just got over 2022 and decided to give her another chance and look what has happened to me. At what point do we need to stop idolising someone that's taking advantage of her status to profit off people who aren't making the gigantic sum she makes per night at the Caesars?'.

The website designer and developer is among the thousands of people raging - and out of pocket - after the singer postponed all ten of her March shows, citing 'doctors' orders.'

The decision means that while those with tickets can transfer them to later dates, yet to be announced, the cost of flights and hotels may not be eligible for a refund.

Mr Dubé-Mendez lost $4,000 on the first trip and will lose at least $650 on the one that was meant to take place in March.

He said: 'I was able to cancel the hotel but the airline I still have to pay a fee and it’s not refundable. As for the tickets, we have to wait until the dates are rescheduled to even ask for a refund.

'It’s just horrible that this topic goes unmentioned by her or the “Adele Access" team - people need to again re-plan their Vegas trip whenever she decides to perform without any type of compensation whatsoever, and really just because she's famous she just accepts and assumes that people need to readjust their life just for her.

'You got the regular obsessed fans that are a bit disconnected from reality and are willing to give everything they have and support this type of behaviour and then you got the people who are a bit more realistic that understand that she's notorious for cancelling at random times in the past and are upset at the situation as this does not just affect their finances, it affects the time off they requested from work and all the life choices they had to do to be able to attend. And that none of it is spoken about by Adele or her team it's honestly frightening'.

Adele still has 20 Vegas shows left before heading off to Munich for summer stadia gigs

Her last world tour Adele Live saw her cancel her last two shows at Wembley Stadium in 2017 over vocal worries.

Jodie McAllister was meant to be at a Wembley show. She told MailOnline today: 'I’m not surprised, she always said about her last shows she’d make it up to the fans. She never did'.

Adele revealed over the weekend that the dates of her residency that would be postponed, which included every weekend in March.

Over the weekend, Adele revealed she was taking several days of vocal rest after suffering a scare during her Las Vegas residency.

Posting a statement on Instagram. Adele wrote: 'Sadly I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency. I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break.

'I hadn't quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed and now I'm sick again, and unfortunately it's taken a toll on my voice.

'And so on Doctors orders I have no choice but to rest thoroughly. The remaining five weekends of this leg are being postponed to a later date.

'We are already working out the details and you will be sent the information ASAP.'

Despite some fans wishing her well, many were furious that she had postponed the shows rather than cancelling, which would mean they’d get a refund.

Danny Dalton, who was flying all the way from Australia for a concert, said his ‘trip of a lifetime’ was ‘ruined’ and asked Adele if she would buy back his $2,800 (£2,200) ticket.

He added: ‘It’s selfish not to cancel because that way you are entitled to a full refund. I can’t make the rescheduled shows – I’m Australian.’

Jennifer Martinez tweeted: ‘I want to say I’m shocked but I’m not, just disappointed.’

Adele is due to perform in Munich this August, but some fans are hesitant to buy tickets. One said: ‘One thing about Adele is… she cancels shows as she pleases.’

Many fans have been left frustrated that they can't make the rescheduled dates as they have already spent money on plane tickets and hotels for when they thought it would be.

One said in reaction on Twitter: 'I really feel for all the Brits and Aussies who are in Vegas this weekend and spent a lot of money to see Adele. What a s**t thing to happen. She's so flaky.'

Another penned: 'Oh man. This is the second time this has happened to me and my wife. First time in London 2018. Total bummer. Get well soon. :-(.'

A third said: 'This was a gift to myself for my birthday. My family made plans & we bought tickets/booked the hotel. I've been through 3 Ticketmaster headaches & it was all for nothing. I want to say I'm shocked but I'm not, just disappointed. I don't want crocodile tear apologizes anymore.'

Someone else said: 'Adele this has become a norm. Not finishing your shows. Do better. If you're don't like doing plenty shows, then stop doing them.'

A fifth said: 'So who's paying me back for the expenses of my trip that are non refundable?.'

Another tweeted: 'I want to say I'm shocked but I'm not, just disappointed. I don't want crocodile tear apologizes anymore.'

Someone else wrote: 'Well, this is not fair. We have tickets, rooms, airlines, everything paid [...] So not right Adele, you should've did this two months ago [instead] of people buying everything to Vegas.'

Whilst one person said: 'She did this last year. She shouldn't commit to dates if she can't handle that number of shows.'

Adele's health problems appeared to begin when she was in her early 20s.

She underwent vocal cord surgery in October 2011 to alleviate recurrent hemorrhaging caused by a benign polyp.

Last month, Adele reportedly revealed to fans that she collapsed backstage before a performance due to a sciatica attack, according to The Sun.

She allegedly told fans: 'They picked my whole body up off the floor.'

Adele also was forced to sit down during her Weekends With Adele performance, explaining: 'I am going to sit down and rest my sciatica.'

Earlier this year Adele detailed her chronic back pain during another Las Vegas show as she hobbled across the stage.

While talking to the crowd as she fired T-shirts into the crowd using a handheld cannon, she said: 'I've got two more, I've just got to get over to the other side of the stage.

'I have to waddle these days because I have really bad sciatica,' Adele added.

Adele has previously discussed being in pain for 'half her life', prior to losing weight and how her body overhaul has helped her cope with her problems.

The Grammy winner began her Vegas residency in November 2022, after the shows were postponed by nearly a year.

Just hours before she was due to kick off her residency in January of that year, Adele revealed that the shows had been delayed, sparking fan uproar.

Adele's initial video revealing that the show would not proceed led to pandemonium for fans who had already traveled to Vegas for the initial shows just before the last-minute announcement.

The Grammy Award winning songstress wept as she explained to fans that she had 'tried everything' to get her show up and running but Covid had 'destroyed' everything.

She said in a video shared to her social media channels: 'I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready.

'We’ve tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid.

'Half my crew and team are [ill] with Covid and still are, and it’s been impossible.'

Although she claimed in her tearful video that many of the people on her team had contracted Covid-19, subsequent reporting indicated that the hitmaker wasn't happy with the stage show.

Several sources claimed that the British star had issues with the set design, and they singled out an on-stage pool that she was set to sing over during one of the numbers.

'When she saw the finished design, she refused to take part,' an insider told The Sun. 'Adele described the pool as a ''baggy old pond'' and refused, point blank, to stand in the middle of it.

'The intention was to fill it with water on the set as she was lifted up on a crane-type mechanism, creating the illusion she was floating on water.'

Adele went onto admit that staging issues forced her to postpone the residency in an interview with Elle in August of that year.

'There was just no soul in it,' she said. 'The stage setup wasn't right. It was very disconnected from me and my band, and it lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment.'

Although she was initially 'embarrassed' after the failure, she eventually found a way to be 'proud' of herself for standing up for the best possible show.

'The first couple of months was really, really hard,' she said. 'I was embarrassed. But it actually made my confidence in myself grow, because it was a very brave thing to do. And I don't think many people would have done what I did. I'm very proud of myself for standing by my artistic needs.'
