A car in Oregon careened off the side of a cliff and plummeted 200 feet down an embankment.

The Oregon State Police shared the harrowing footage from the crash and wrote in a Facebook post that the accident on Highway 224 happened 'after the driver took their eyes off the roadway.'

In the unnerving dashcam video, the car approaches a bend in the road but shows no sign of slowing down.

Instead, the car hurtles toward the highway's edge and shoots through a gap between the tall Fir trees that flank the road.

Video shows the moment the car launched off from the ground - almost like it had gone off a ramp - and fell down the embankment, out of view.

The incident unfolded in a matter of seconds.

Despite their perilous fall, the driver was still able to climb out of their vehicle, and miraculously only sustained minor injuries.

First responders had to conduct a rope rescue to haul the survivor up the 200-foot embankment.

Afterwards, the driver was rushed to a nearby trauma center for treatment.

On social media, viewers expressed concern for the driver in the video.

'Are they okay???' one worried user asked.

'Holy cow! I hope everyone is okay!' another commented.

And another person wrote 'Hope they're ok'

'Please tell me they survived,' someone else wished.

Other viewers remarked on the curving road's lack of a guardrail.

'Guardrail would be in order' a user noted.

'I feel like that road might need a guardrail' one viewer observed.

'GUARDRAILS' another simply said in all caps.

'Why is there no guardrail?' another asked.

And some viewers who knew that the driver survived voiced relief and amazement.

'The driver survived with some injuries, very lucky!' auser wrote.
