JK Rowling last night told her followers 'it has happened again' after a man who was convicted for filming women in female toilets told police that he identified as a woman when challenged.
The Harry Potter author made the fresh remark on Twitter/X just days after sparking a trans row about cat killer Scarlet Blake by saying 'I'm sick of this s***, this is not a woman'.
She was responding to a story in ChronicleLive about Kurtis Mawson, who was caught inside female toilets near the Odeon cinema at Millburngate shopping centre in Durham in May 2022.
Mawson was standing on the toilet in a closed cubicle looking over into the next cubicle when police arrived - and when challenged, insisted he was there because he 'identified as female'. MailOnline understands that he identifies as male, not female.
Rowling posted: 'That thing only evil, nasty bigots claim happens, and that never, ever happens, has happened. Again.'

She went on to say those who insist 'no predator would bother to pretend to be a woman' are 'wilfully blind' and that they 'wiggle like eels trying to find a loophole through which they can escape with their precious ideology intact.'
Mawson was arrested by police who later found him in possession of a mobile phone and digital camera with which he had recorded material of women using the toilet.
In June 2023, while on police bail, Mawson committed a sex act on a tourist who was taking a picture of Durham Cathedral from a bridge in the city.
Mawson, High Street, Willington, County Durham, pleaded guilty to sexual assault on a female, voyeurism, three counts of making indecent photographs of a child and possessing an extreme pornographic image. He also admitted breaching a sexual risk order and failing to comply with the sexual offender register.
He was sentenced to 25 months in prison.
It comes after Rowling slammed Sky News for referring to trans cat killer Blake as 'a woman' in an article headline.
Blake was given a life sentence for the Don't F**K With Cats-style murder of Jorge Martin Carreno last week who she randomly targeted as he walked home after a night out in July 2021.
Rowling posted on Twitter/X: 'I'm sick of this s***. This is not a woman. These are #NotOurCrimes.'
The community notes option, where readers can add context to a post, said: 'Scarlet Blake is an adult male who identifies as a transgender woman. The omission of this crucial detail in the reporting gives the false impression that this was a crime committed by a woman.'

Blake live-streamed the killing and dissection of a cat four months before she targeted Jorge Martin Carrenoas as he walked home from a night out in Oxford in July 2021.
She admitted dissecting the animal, removing the fur and skin and placing it in a blender but blames her former partner Ashlynn Bell.
Police believe Blake would have got away with the sadistic murder had she not later had a bitter falling out with Bell - who then contacted detectives at Thames Valley Police to reveal that she knew of a 'murder confession' from Blake.
It was only then - almost two years after Jorge's death - that police finally learned of how she had warmed up for her attack on him by making a four-hour video of herself slaughtering a neighbour's cat.
Blake had an 'extreme interest in death and in harm' and killed the family pet after watching a Netflix documentary called Don't F*** With Cats: Hunting An Internet Killer, Oxford Crown Court heard.
