Zara is known for stirring up controversy, whether for its confusing sizing or shocking ad campaigns, and its latest clothing item is causing quite the sartorial stir.
The fast fashion brand is selling mid-waist 'wrinkle effect' jeans for $69.90, resulting in sticker shock for folks on the internet.
The straight cut denim includes five pockets and is made of 'wrinkle effect fabric,' for those who want a crinkly pair of pantaloons that look like they were left in the dryer for days.
The denim went viral on TikTok after influencers started sharing videos of the jeans and try-ons - and that's not the only item of clothing in the store made to look wrinkly on purpose, as it's part of a larger trend.

This wasn't Emma's only brush with Zara's new aesthetic - the lifestyle content creator also shared a video from the men's section, where a coat was equally wrinkly
London-based fashion and beauty influencer Emma G. Mason shared a video of the denim, asking 'What is this?' and captioning the video, 'trying to get us to wear creased jeans out.'
A viral sound asking 'Ew, what's that?' played in the background of the now-viral video, which amassed 18.7 million views and 1.9 million likes.
'Some intern at Zara is trying to make this a trend so he doesn't have to fold laundry ever again,' a commenter joked - and other responses were decidedly mixed.
'I SAW SOMEONE POST THIS SAYING "run don't walk to Zara" LIKE WHAAA,' a follower yelled, to which a commenter replied, 'Don't walk run away from Zara.'
'Run don't walk to Zara, no. Run don't walk to that IRON,' another joked.
Others compared the jeans to 'that one receipt in my bag,' 'that one paper in my backpack,' and 'my clothes when I finally take them out of the dryer after being in there for a week.'
Another person quipped, 'Zara got some ironing to do.'

'Zara at it again with the creased clothes,' Emma proclaimed.
However, not everyone is appalled by the daring denim. TikTok creator TheRealAnni shared a Zara try-on and wrote, 'POV: in love with this,' about the jeans
TikTok creator Gianna, who's based in New York City, showed off a try-on haul and captioned the post, 'Guys why do I kinda like them?'

The influencer paired the denim with a red sweatshirt and camel boots.
'Maybe I do need them…' one commenter mused, as another complimented, 'so cute on you bae.'
TikTok creator Gianna, who's based in New York City, agreed, showing off a try-on haul and captioning the post, 'Guys why do I kinda like them?'
'I wish you guys could feel these,' she said, before showing off the crinkles up close.
'These literally look like when I stuff all of my clothing into my drawers after I'm trying to put away my laundry,' Gianna declared on camera.
At $69 she didn't buy them, although she and a pal did contemplate making the purchase.
The brand previously offered a now sold-out velvet coat that originally retailed for $169 before going on sale for $12 (left). The $139 wrinkle-look trench coat is still available in mint green (right)
Not all crinkled items are on sale - there's currently a limited edition men's jacquard jacket that's selling for $199 and made with a linen and silk blend
