A man from Massachusetts scored a $1 million prize after buying a scratch-off ticket with winnings from an earlier game where he had won $500.
In January, Deivson Alves Martins had won the $500 from a scratcher he bought at Family Farms convenience store in Worcester. A month later, he stopped at the same store again.
This time, Martins, who works as a carpenter, bought a $50 scratcher - it led to a much bigger prize.
His newest ticket was a whopping $1million win- that became $650,000 before taxes thanks to opting for a one-time payout.

Martins explained he picked the winning million-dollar ticket from dispenser number 11 because that is his lucky number.
He said his good fortune has given him peace of mind about his and his family’s future.

Winning the $1 million prize on the Billion Dollar Extravaganza ticket is a 1 in 2,016,000 chance, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery's website.
Martins is the eleventh $1 million prize winner in the game, which was released in December 2022.
Four $1 million prizes are still up for grabs, according to the Lottery's website.
