Police officers have rescued 11 dogs and two cats that were living in 'deplorable conditions' at a home in Queens, New York City, on Monday.
Detectives from NYPD's Grand Larceny Squad searched the home of Cory Elder, 43, and discovered animals showing signs of neglect and malnourishment.
In addition to the skeletal animals, investigators also found stolen tools and DJ equipment, as well as drugs like heroin and fentanyl.
One of the animals which they recovered, a German Shepherd, was also stolen.

Elder was arrested after authorities finished searching his home on Beach 44th Street in the Rockaways.
He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, torturing, injuring, or not feeding an animal, criminal possession of stolen property, neglect of an impounded animal and aggravated unlicensed operator of a motor vehicle.
The NYPD shared the stomach-churning photos of the animals taken inside Elder's home later Monday.
In one picture, a dog appeared to be standing next to a pool of urine, and trash was strewn across the floor of his cage.
The floor of the house was partially visible in this photo, and it was littered with various types of trash - including papers, empty soda bottles, and candy wrappers.
In another photo, a dog was standing amid clumps of its own fur, with boxes of electronics visible behind the cage.
The animals were discovered inside Elder's home in Queens, in conditions the NYPD called 'deplorable'
The search was conducted by the NYPD'S Grand Larceny Squad, who later released the pictures of their heartbreaking discovery
Elder's arraignment was pending on Tuesday.
The NYPD turned all of the animals over to the ASPCA, where they are receiving health evaluations.
Last year, a woman in Florida was charged after 309 animals including 164 ducks, chickens, geese, cats and dogs were seized from her squalid property and mobile home.
Lisa Lacharite, 48, was arrested and charged with five counts of felony animal neglect, 304 counts of animal neglect and one count of elder neglect.
Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's office, performed a welfare check after someone had called regarding a possible 'hoarder situation' involving cats at the home on Fazzini Drive in Frostproof, a city near Central Florida.
Lacharite's 75-year-old mother was also living in the home.
Deputies noticed a strong stench of ammonia outside the home upon arrival. Lacharite told police that she was her mother's caregiver and that her mother had health issues.
When deputies entered they made the horrifying discovery of more than 300 animals in squalor and unsanitary conditions. Many were roaming free climbing on the furniture many appeared sickly and malnourished.
