A group of American soldiers fighting in Israel Defence Forces (IDF) units in Gaza are under review after creating a social media profile dedicated to sharing images of blindfolded Palestinian captees and calling for people to 'join the hunt' for Hamas

The 'Hamas Hunting Club' has published a slew of images since its creation in November showcasing dozens of blindfolded Palestinian detainees sitting on the floor with their arms bound together.

Other images bearing a location tag of Gaza City appear to show club members posing for the camera and brandishing assault rifles as dishevelled and handcuffed Palestinians stand by unable to see through the rags covering their faces.

Another photo displayed a smirking man holding an artillery shell destined for Gaza which had been emblazoned with the words 'send nudes'.

In almost every image, soldiers are seen either wearing or holding the club's distinct patch - an image of a Hamas fighter's skull being crushed under an IDF boot.

And some posts even included clips of soldiers headed into battle overlaid with popular tracks by American rappers Eminem, Wiz Khalifa and Megan Thee Stallion

Imploring social media users to 'join the club', the administrators of the page are now flogging the patches and other Hamas Hunting Club merchandise to a growing number of followers.

The IDF has previously investigated several of its soldiers after footage of them humiliating Palestinian detainees was shared to social media, and has sought to discourage the behaviour as international pressure mounts on Tel-Aviv to agree a ceasefire.

In one incident, an IDF reservist was discharged after he was filmed abusing seven Palestinian labourers from near Hebron on the West Bank after they were caught attempting to enter Israel without a permit.

The footage showed the Palestinian men stripped naked or half-naked, blindfolded and handcuffed, and screaming in pain. One of them is being dragged on the ground.

A screenshot from the video shows a soldier stepping with his boot on the head of one of the Palestinians, while another points a weapon at him.

In another scene of violence caught on camera, a soldier kicks a blindfolded Palestinian man in the stomach, then spits on him and insults him in Arabic.

He is then left to languish in pain on the concrete as an Israeli flag is draped over him.

In a statement responding to the clips late last year, the IDF said: 'The [soldiers'] conduct that emerges from these scenes is grave and inconsistent with the values of the IDF.

'The incidents are under investigation. The IDF commanders will hold talks with all the soldiers on the front. One soldier has been dismissed from reserve service.'

However, critics of the IDF have claimed there is little prospect of its soldiers facing punishment for such treatment of detainees, which they argue contradicts the Geneva Conventions that dictate detainees must be humanely treated and protected from 'insults and public curiosity'.

Many of the soldiers pictured in images shared by the Hamas Hunting Group profile have their faces blurred out, but some were willing to share their identities openly.

MailOnline has contacted the IDF for comment on Hamas Hunting Group and the status of its investigations into the account.

The Israel-Hamas war is now on the eve of its sixth month, and the intensity of the fighting has left much of the Gaza Strip in ruins with many people, especially in the devastated northern region, scrambling for food to survive.

The United States, Qatar and Egypt have spent weeks trying to broker a new armistice agreement in which Hamas would release up to 40 hostages in return for a six-week cease-fire, the release of some Palestinian prisoners and a major influx of aid to the isolated territory.

But the talks have so far failed to achieve a breakthrough despite international pressure to end the fighting.

Aid groups have said it has become nearly impossible to deliver supplies within most of Gaza because of the difficulty of coordinating with the Israeli military, the ongoing hostilities and the breakdown of public order.

Israel launched its offensive after Hamas-led militants stormed across the border on October 7, killing some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducting around 250.

More than 100 hostages were released in November in exchange for 240 Palestinians imprisoned by Israel, but the sides have not managed to agree to a cessation of hostilities since then.

Meanwhile, the overall Palestinian death toll is more than 30,700, according to Gaza's Health Ministry, which also says over 72,000 people have been wounded.

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron this week said he will warn a member of Israel's War Cabinet that allies' patience is running thin over the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Cameron is due to meet today with former Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz, who is stopping in London on the way back from a trip to Washington.

Cameron told members of Parliament's House of Lords on Tuesday that people in Gaza 'are dying of hunger' and Israel must let in more humanitarian aid.

'We've had a whole set of things we've asked the Israelis to do, but I have to report to the House that the amount of aid they got in in February was about half what they got in January,' he said.

'So patience needs to run very thin and a whole series of warnings need to be given, starting I hope with a meeting I have with minister Gantz when he visits the UK.'

Gantz, a rival to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is visiting Washington and London without the Israeli prime minister's approval.
