Dakota Johnson feels 'lucky' that she was allowed to discover her own sexuality.
The 34-year-old actress - who is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, 66 - has revealed that she feels fortunate to have grown up in such an open-minded household.
'I was lucky that I grew up with a mom who was very open - at times maybe too open - about sexuality.
'But it was always like, whatever you're into and when you want to have sex, you just let me know and we'll get birth control,' the Fifty Shades of Grey star told Bustle.
'It was really healthy, and it made me feel like I was allowed to discover my sexuality on my own, which I think is such a gift.'

She added, 'We've progressed so much in some societies, for people to be allowed to say that they feel neither here nor there in terms of gender.
'That's an incredible thing. It's such a leap forward.'
By contrast, Dakota acknowledged that other parts of the world aren't so forward-thinking.
The movie star - who lives in Malibu, California - added: 'Then there's Alabama, and Texas, and the rest of the world that is in complete disarray.'
Meanwhile, Dakota has always been open and honest about her struggles with depression and anxiety.
And the Hollywood star explained that she's become 'less and less ashamed of it' over recent years.
Dakota - who has been in a relationship with music star Chris Martin since 2017 - said: 'I've explored everything, which is such a gift. I've started to be less and less ashamed of it.
' There's such a weird stigma on depression and mental health. It's hard.'

This comes after Dakota talked the failure of her movie Madame Web.
Dakota shared with Bustle that 'it was definitely an experience for me to make that movie. I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again because I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now.'
The silver screen regular added: 'But sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like: "Wait, what?"
'But it was a real learning experience, and of course it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand.'
The scathing notices left the movie with a dismal 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes - and had their effect on the movie's box office as well.
An movie theater chain executive has revealed that, when the reviews went online, audience members started returning the advance tickets they had already bought.
'On Wednesday night, you could actually watch advance purchase sales declining in real time as buyers were refunding their tickets. It really says something when you’d rather have Shazam 2 numbers,' the honcho told The Hollywood Reporter.
A review in The Atlantic noted the 'sheer lack of effort on display,' while the Sydney Morning Herald dismissed the film for coming off as 'another desperate attempt to keep the franchise flag flying.'
The movie's reception has become such a joke that Dakota's co-star Sydney Sweeney made light of it while hosting Saturday Night Live over the weekend.

Dakota starred in Madame Web as the title superhero, who starts off as a normal New York City paramedic called Cassandra Webb.
After suffering a near-death experience, however, Cassandra finds herself inexplicably endowed with an ability to see into the future.
As she begins to embrace her developing superpowers, she connects with three other woman she has been linked to by mysterious chance.
One of them is Sydney's character Julia Carpenter, a bespectacled busty blonde whose own journey ends up with her as Spider-Woman.
The film, which bowed February 16, was created for Sony's Spider-Man Universe, not to be confused with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man franchise.
Dakota and castmates include a brace of her fellow 'nepo babies,' Girls alum Zosia Mamet and American Horror Story star Emma Roberts.
