Jayson Boebert has told of his 'hurt' at ex-wife's Lauren's decision to continue her bid to make permanent a temporary restraining order that she took out against him following an altercation between the couple in January.

And he has revealed that the controversial congresswoman offered to drop the action against him if he agreed to certain terms, but that he refused telling her he did not, 'negotiate with terrorists or kidnappers.'

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com Jayson said, 'I am hurt by the restraining order. It is very unfortunate and disheartening.

'She had called me multiple times and said if I agreed to her terms she would drop it.

'I replied to her that I do not negotiate with terrorists or kidnappers.'

Jayson, 42, added that despite the acrimony and their legal battles he still earnestly hopes for some sort of peaceable co-existence and co-parenting with Lauren and said, 'I wish I could find a way to fix all this hate towards each other.'

Jayson and Lauren's contentious divorce after 18 years of marriage has repeatedly made headlines since the Republican representative for Colorado's Third District filed last April.

Monday afternoon saw Lauren, 37, take the stand in Garfield County Associate Court, Rifle, despite her ex-husband's failure to attend the 4pm hearing.

Judge Jonathan Pototsky noted that the court had been unable to serve Jayson with notice for the permanent restraining order that the congresswoman is seeking.

Addressing Congresswoman Boebert, Judge Pototksky gave her the option of dismissing the temporary restraining order given that nothing had happened in the intervening months.

He said, 'We can dismiss the order if you decide nothing is happening, you are okay and if you need further assistance form the court then we come back and start over again.'

Or, he noted, that Jayson is due to appear in his courtroom Monday for a hearing related to his criminal charges that resulted from the January incident and that he could serve him, or his attorney, with notice then.

Lauren accepted the latter option to move forward with the order and told the judge, 'As a mother this is a difficult decision, my sons miss their father…and I wish [Jayson] was here today.

'But I'm afraid he might take his anger for me out on them,'

DailyMail.com has been told that it was Jayson who called 911 when his arrival at a restaurant at which his wife and sons were dining led to the January dispute that escalated into violence.

According to Jayson's account it was Lauren who became physical with him. But when he was allegedly uncooperative with responding officers, it was Jayson who found himself facing charges.

He has also been charged in connection with a domestic incident involving an altercation with his eldest son, Tyler, 18, at his home in December.

Today Jayson reacted to his ex's decision to double down and push forward with a demand for a permanent restraining order against him with dismay.

And despite Lauren's words to the judge, Jayson questioned her true motivation.

He said, 'It feels like the movie Groundhog Day. Her desperate excuses are getting weaker and weaker.'

Speaking to DailyMail.com last week Jayson spoke of his 'unconditional love and support,' for his sons - Tyler, 18, Brody, 17, Kaydon, 13 and Roman, 10.

He insisted he would never hurt his own children and instead accused her of using the recent situation as an 'excuse' to 'justify' her move from Colorado's third to fourth district.

According to one insider, speaking to DailyMail.com, Lauren had 'no path' to winning her seat in the third district again having polled badly at the start of December, 'and so she up and moved and didn't even tell her staff.'

At the time Lauren, who won her seat by just 546 votes in 2022, was accused of 'carpetbagging' for moving from the mountains to the plains in pursuit of a more winnable seat.

It has been a relentlessly turbulent few months for the Boeberts.

Just last week eldest son Tyler was arrested and charged on 22 counts relating to a string of vehicle break ins and property theft. His most serious charges are four felony counts for criminal possession of and ID and conspiracy to commit a felony.

He has been bonded out of Garfield County Jail and is set to appear in court next month.

Speaking to DailyMail.com following Tyler's arrest Jayson said, 'I know my son is a good-hearted child and still has his whole life ahead of him.'

And said, 'I hope to continuously evolve and refine my parenting skills. I have made a commitment to provide the best possible support and guidance to my children.

'Even though I may feel like I have failed at times I will continue to keep improving.'

It was not Tyler's first run in with the law – though it is his most serious.

Back in April a friend alleged that he had been injured because of Tyler driving 'so f***king fast' that he flipped the vehicle in which they were both traveling.

Noble D'Amato, 19, accused the Boebert family of 'covering up' the incident from which Tyler walked with a simple careless driving ticket which was later dropped to a 'defective vehicle for headlights' ticket. The teen also had to go to court-ordered driving school.

Lauren, 37, and Jayson welcomed their first grandchild with the birth of Tyler's child with his girlfriend last April.

The very same month the congresswoman filed for divorce and the couple's marriage officially ended with a final court hearing last September.

At the time Jayson spoke of his own sense of failure, standing up for his ex-wife in the face of public criticism and blaming himself in a Facebook post in which he claimed that he was the 'root' of the split that he described as 'devastating.'

Meanwhile Lauren faced humiliation when surveillance footage emerged of and her and her new man, Aspen bar-owner Quinn Gallagher,46, behaving in a way that saw them both thrown out of a theater in Denver.

At one point Lauren had her hand in Gallagher's lap while he fondled her breasts. At other times the pair were talking loudly and singing along to the production of Beetlejuice despite other patrons' repeated requests for them to keep it down.

It is, according to Jayson, impossible for any family to remain impervious to the maelstrom of publicity in which they must so often function.

He said, 'It's disheartening to see your actions or words mispresented and sensationalized, painting a false picture for the public. These distortions do not only create tension within your family but also affect your reputation and relationships outside of the home.'

There is, he admitted, no road map but, he said, 'As a father navigating this complex landscape it is crucial to stay true to your values, communicate openly with your loved ones and remember that perfection is unattainable.'

For Jayson, no matter what challenges lie ahead, 'Striving for honest and genuine connections with your children and keeping them on the right path despite the challenges and external pressures, is what truly matters in the end.'
