A breakup recovery coach has revealed the various 'self-soothing' techniques that she says can help anyone overcome heartbreak about a romantic relationship.

She captioned the viral video, which has so far amassed nearly 11,000 views, 'Learning to regulate emotions after a breakup.'
'If you're going to get through a breakup, you need to become a master at self-soothing.
'You have to know how to regulate your emotions every single day. You're going to want them to regulate your emotions for you - that's why we reach for the ex so much after a breakup, we can't do it ourselves, we don't know how to self-soothe,' she said at the beginning of the video.
The coach noted that although its difficult during a breakup to find a 'moment to calm yourself down,' it's crucial to moving on.
Darlene explained that there are many techniques you can use, but you must discover what works for you.
She added: 'It's good to have a good cry, go out and exercise a little bit - physical activity is huge for that, deep breathing is huge for that.
'So, start to figure out what works for you, what's going to calm you down, what is going to soothe you for just one single second, that's just all we need sometimes.'
The heartbreak expert said that you must take your breakup 'one minute at a time.'

'Call a friend, read a book, watch TV, go outside and go for a walk, meditate, pray, do whatever you can and see how it works for you,' she said.
