Jonathan Van Ness rose to stardom after appearing on the series Queer Eye, which quickly became a pop culture phenomenon - and through much of that journey, his husband and 'best friend' Mark Peacock has been by his side.

The 36-year-old - who is nonbinary but uses all pronouns - secretly tied the knot with Mark, 38, in 2020 after the pair's whirlwind relationship began in London years before.

Following their first date, the lovebirds became inseparable and Jonathan found himself sharing the spotlight with his new hubby as Mark supported his spouse through his newfound success following his appearance on the TV series.

And while the 36-year-old became a breakout star of the reality TV show by becoming a fan-favorite on-screen, it has now been claimed that when the cameras stopped rolling his personality seemingly changed into that of 'monster' with 'rage issues.'

According to a shocking exposé published by Rolling Stone, multiple production sources, who spoke to the outlet anonymously, claimed that Jonathan made the hit show difficult to create due to his behind-the-scenes behavior.

Jonathan was accused of being 'emotionally abusive', having 'rage issues', and being a 'nightmare'.

'There's a real emotion of fear around them when they get angry. It's almost like a cartoon where it oozes out of them,' claimed one source.'

'It's intense and scary,' they added, further claiming that Van Ness was a 'yeller' who would 'explode once a week'.

One source said that Jonathan has a 'very warm, very charismatic' side to their personality which is what the public sees, but there's another side that comes out behind the scenes.

'At least once a day, they would need to yell at somebody. It might be something small, but there's always going to be somebody to point out and blame and make the villain of the day,' they alleged.

Rolling Stone also claims that the Queer Eye cast - who is also made up of Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk - were engaged in 'petty disputes and competition' with each other over screen time and who was the 'top star' on the show.

Jonathan's on-set behavior raised the question of how he acts at home and whether his lover Mark has also witnessed or been a victim of the Queer Eye star's 'rage'. Now, FEMAIL has lifted the lid on their relationship as the 36-year-old is accused of being a 'monster.'

'I wanted @marklondon to come with but, was it a bit intense to ask Mark to come after a couple weeks worth of dates to come meet my mom & and friends on a mini break? Maybe so, but something about Mark felt different and I'm quite sure he felt the same.'

The duo had similar interests and began connecting on their love for gardening, figure skating, gymnastics, and pottery, according to Jonathan.

Following their nuptials, Jonathan's career began to skyrocket as he rose further into the depths of stardom.

While each of the Queer Eye stars found their own success, Jonathan seemed to be the most fortunate when it came to fame.

Not only does he have the most social media followers of the group, he's also published three books -including a New York Times bestseller- and launched the hit podcast Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness.

The podcast was turned into its own standalone Netflix series in 2022.

He also has a successful haircare line called JVN, which is stocked in Sephora.

However, his soaring levels of stardom could all come to a screeching halt after recent accusations.

Claims published in the Rolling Stone branded the Queer Eye star as a 'nightmare' off-screen.

Anonymous sources accused him of being a 'monster' before claiming that he had two sides to him - one for the cameras and one for behind-the-scenes.

The shocking allegations raised the question of if the TV personality's façade came tumbling down in his person life as well - and if Mark was married to a 'yeller' who would 'explode once a week.'

Jonathan made headlines last year when he entered a fiery debate about transgenderism on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast.

Jonathan described himself as a 'nonbinary f***ing trans person' during a heated moment, initially pushed back against Shepard's contention that the New York Times was a left-leaning newspaper.

The reality star pointed to a string of articles that ran in the Times about controversies involving transgender adolescents and their gender-affirming care, which critics have said focus on the complaints of transphobes and overemphasize 'rare' complications or regrets from transitioning, while simultaneously downplaying the voices of actual transgender people.

Jonathan — who has previously complained about having to repeatedly explain the importance of personal pronouns — stated that the New York Times 'absolutely is' a right-leaning publication, at least in its coverage of transgender issues, and he shed some tears as the back-and-forth continued.

In the past, the multifaceted star said he's comfortable with all identifiers, from masculine and feminine to non-binary.

'When I say, he, she, they, whatever, I mean it because I feel like in ways I am all of those things and I’m none of those things at the same time,' he told the Daily Telegraph.
