According to a forthcoming BBC Radio 3 documentary Pink Panther composer Henry Mancini was upset when Alfred Hitchcock rejected his score for the 1972 film Frenzy because it was 'too macabre' and 'too creepy'. 

Considering the film featured a sadistic killer of women played by Barry Foster, dubbed The Necktie Murderer, Henry would be forgiven for thinking Hitchcock was having a giraffe.

 

Famous for bullying actors, playwright Edward Bond who has died aged 89, so distressed young thesp Simon Callow that he wrote a book Being An Actor offering advice on how to deal with the likes of Bond. 

Once Bond demanded to know why a cast member had laughed in his presence for no apparent reason. 'I heard so many nasty things about you and was laughing with relief,' replied the actor.
