The former chair of the Florida state Republican party and husband to Moms of Liberty co-founder Bridget Ziegler will not face criminal charges for his role in a threesome sex scandal.
In October, Christian Zeigler was accused of raping a woman he and his wife were engaged in a three-way relationship and recording the encounter.
While under investigation for sexual battery, Zeigler was forced to resign from his role as the chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. The scandal also put Bridget under the microscope as she faced constant public criticism at Sarasota County School Board meetings, where she serves on the board.
The Sarasota Police Department dropped sexual battery charges against him and the state attorney's office declined to charge him with video voyeurism for recording the sexual encounter, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
'The victim's expressed inability to recall whether she consented to recording the sexual activity along with her inconsistencies pertaining to key details of the event leave the State unable to demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt that the video in question was filmed without her knowledge or consent,' a memo from the state attorney's office said.

Christian Ziegler faced accusations from a woman who said he raped her after she canceled plans to have sex with him and Bridget.
His attorney, Derek Byrd, told the Associated Press, 'Mr. Ziegler is relieved to be completely cleared of the false allegations and any criminal wrongdoing.'
'We cooperated at every stage of investigation and as difficult as it was, we remained quiet out of respect for the investigation.'
During the initial investigation, Ziegler provide the video to police who used it to determine the sexual encounter was likely consensual, according to the state attorney's office.
However, because it is a crime in Florida to film a sexual encounter without the knowledge and consent of the other participants the case was referred to the state attorney's office.
'The victim acknowledged it was possible she could have consented to one being taken,' the memo said.
'Inconsistencies in the victim's account appear to be the result of substantial intoxication and trauma that the victim was experiencing.'
The police investigation revealed Ziegler told his wife to hunt for a threesome partner and had a list of multiple women's names on his phone titled 'THE LIST' including his rape accuser under the sub-heading 'F***.'
Documents show Ziegler and his Moms for Liberty co-founder wife discussing the woman who accused him of rape in text messages with Bridget concerned for her well-being.
Text messages from February 2021 show Ziegler told his wife to 'come home, stop and pick up [a woman] to play again and be crazy'.

It is believed he was referring to the alleged victim who he claimed 'was an alcoholic, nice person with some issues'.
But Bridget responded that she was worried the woman was 'going through some s***' and 'that she prefers confident empowered people'.

She refused to step down from her school board role after she was faced with hours of public scrutiny for the relationship.
Bridget has been accused of hypocrisy for engaging in bisexual acts during a threesome with another woman and her husband, while also being an outspoken leader of anti-LGBTQ policies.
'Turns out that you are a hypocrite of the worst order,' John Smeallie, a retired deputy superintendent of Maryland schools, said during a January meeting. 'Despite your attacks on the LGTBQ-plus community, it would appear that you are a part of it. Certainly a B, maybe a plus.'
'Why won't you step down?' asked another person at the meeting.

For nearly three hours, Bridget faced dozens of calls to resign during the January meeting and began to sob at one point.
'We are now famous, or infamous, as the case may be, because of you and your husband's antics,' an enraged local said at the meeting.
One resident read the lyrics of Katy Perry's I Kissed a Girl hit song to the board.
Sarasota residents also brought signs into the meeting with messages such as, 'Sarasota kids deserve better,' and 'Ziegler must go!'
In February, Bridget Zeigler broke her silence and spoke about the scandal during a school board meeting. She said: 'I do believe specific to sexual orientation and what have you, has no place in comments up here. Personal lives, families, all of those.'
'But I also accept the fact that as elected officials we open ourselves up to incredible criticism, but as an individual I absolutely reject that.
'As we go into policy discussions. There's a lot of hyperbole and rhetoric out there in the paper or on social media.
'I don't want anyone to be fearful, I don't want anyone in our district to feel that we are providing anything other than a fair, safe and tolerant environment for every single person to learn and that means not just to learn—and work.
'As you can hear, there's a lot of people who believe that's not the case.'
