Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) have allegedy killed a number of ISIS militants who were planning a 'terrorist attack' on a Moscow synagogue.
According to the FSB, a large cache of weapons and bomb parts were found during a raid on an Islamic State cell in Kaluga, southwest of Moscow.
Russian state media reported the militants had been gearing up to shoot Jewish worshippers at a synagogue in the capital before security officials stormed the premises and gunned them down.
'While being arrested, the terrorists put up armed resistance to the Russian FSB officers, and as a result were neutralised by return fire,' the TASS news agency quoted the security service as saying in a statement.
'Firearms, ammunition, as well as components for the manufacture of an improvised explosive device were found and seized,' it added.
The FSB did not verify how many people died in the shootout but at least two bodies appeared in footage
Footage of the raid on the Islamic State cell revealed FSB officers discovered weapons, ammunition, and components to make bombs
Footage published by the Russian Zvezda news outlet shows two dead bodies inside a house, alongside several firearms, ammunition and knives found during the search.
Two armed officers can be seen standing in a room as two bodies, which appear to be male, lie on the floor in front of them.
An officer is then seen counting the bullets they had retrieved from the hideout, presumably to have been used in the planned massacre.
In an extended version of the footage posted by Zvezda, bottles of liquids with red warning labels, maps, and balaclavas were also found buried in the terrorists' stash.
Although two bodies were captured in the horror footage, the FSB did not verify how many people were killed in the operation.
It said the militants were members of the Afghan branch of Islamic State, but did not state their citizenship.

Russian authorities often announce the thwarting of planned attacks by suspected Islamist groups.
On March 3 the FSB said it killed six suspected ISIS terrorists in the Muslim-majority southern region of Ingushetia.
Special forces from the FSB security service targeted the group in a building in the town of Karabulak and 'netralised' them in an operation that began on March 2, Russia's anti-terrorism committee said.
They added that the suspects, three of whom were on the federal wanted persons list, were ISIS members who had been "involved in a number of terrorist crimes".
Tensions between Russia's Muslim and Jewish communities have flared at times during the Israel-Hamas war.
Last October, a huge mob of protestors stormed an airport in Dagestan, a Muslim-majority region in the Caucasus, after a plane arrived from Tel Aviv.
The protestors, some carrying Palestinian flags, smashed through the doors of a terminal at Makhachkala airport while others ran into the runway.
