Five Guys is under fresh scrutiny for its prices - after a receipt for a burger, fries and drink costing almost $24 went viral.
The receipt was posted on X this week - and has been viewed 25.2 million times.
It showed a bacon cheeseburger at $12.49, a small soda at $2.89 and small fries for $5.19. This came to $21.91 with tax and the final amount as $24.10 with a tip.
'Five Guys prices are out of control,' the X user wrote. '$24 for one person.'
The user added underneath: 'I guess I was expecting about $12 to $15 per person for Five Guys. $22 (without tip) just seems to cross a line. What is the right amount these days?'

The post on X has been viewed 25.3 million times by Thursday - after being posted on Friday March 1
Under the post, users of X, formely Twitter, weighed in.
One tweeted: 'That's not even factoring in how overrated they are. $10 should be able to get you a premium burger from a higher-end place. Drink and fries plus $5.'
'5 dollars for a small fry is highway robbery. It's literally just a potato and some salt. Cost them a quarter to make,' another wrote.
Someone else said: 'Fast food becoming a luxury meal is a sign of the times.'
The viral receipt comes in the same week a Five Guys customer's video complaining about the extremely high prices of the items at the fast-food chain has resurfaced on multiple social media platforms.
Michelle Newell posted the clip to TikTok explaining that she and her husband had paid $42 for two cheeseburgers, a side of fries and two milkshakes.
The visibly upset patron told viewers that the couple had visited a Five Guys location on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Newell shared her anger last year - but a check by DailyMail.com Friday evening confirmed it remains just as expensive to buy the same meal.
Newell said she ordered a regular cheeseburger for herself, another cheeseburger with mushrooms for her husband and a side of fries. The couple also got two milkshakes.
She said that 'we're absolutely done' and businesses are 'playing with their customers' .
Iain Ross-Mackenzie, director of operations-APAC at Five Guys International explained the food was so expensive because it was all fresh and not frozen
Chad Murrell, one of the Five Guys founder Jerry Murrell’s sons, said: 'I won’t name names, but other restaurants just don’t give a satisfying amount of fries. 'We always give an extra scoop. I say load 'em up and make sure they get their money’s worth'
While it is expensive, Five Guys has long delighted diners by shoving a small mound of seemingly free extra fries at the bottom of their takeaway bags.
For years the fast food favourite - which has 1,700 diners worldwide - claimed they were simply just nicer guys than their competitors.
