In a viral video, Minnesota-based teacher Ms. C said that the 'number one' thing she doesn't tolerate is bullying as she noted that students tend to target their peers that are 'less popular'

She captioned the clip: 'Basically we're gonna learn and respect each other.'

'Things I'm not chill about as a high school teacher... let's start with my absolute number one and that is bullying,' she said at the begin of the video.

Ms. C noted that the majority of the bullying that takes place in her classroom is 'super subtle.'

'Here's what it looks like, a student that is less popular, maybe has a disability, will be talking and a kid who is a bully will be looking at all of his friends across the room and snickering and making little faces,' she explained.

The teacher admitted that she will 'lose it' if she spots that kind of behavior. She then revealed how she stops 'subtle bullying' in its tracks.

Ms. C added: 'What I will usually do is go stand directly by the bully's desk and stare them in the eyes the whole time that other student is talking.

'This is also the only reason - other than a safety threat - that I will throw someone out of my room.

'If you are a teacher and you are not fiercely protecting your most vulnerable students, what are you doing?'

The content creator also revealed that she is not afraid to take action if students make inappropriate comments.

'Racism, sexism, homophobia - no. If a comment is made, we are going to have an intense one-on-one conversation,' she shared.

'If that conversation goes well, that's fine. If the conversation does not go well, we are going to bring in admin, parents, anyone who needs to be involved in that conversation until something changes - until you recognize that your comment was unacceptable.'

Ms. C then explained that she also frowns upon students sitting on their phones - adding that she collects their technology at the beginning of class.

'The next one I know is controversial... but I have really just seen phones affect students negatively, academically, mentally, and socially.

'One thing that really makes me sad is when I walk into a room in a high school and every kid is just sitting there silently on their phone, scrolling.

'They're not interacting with each other. Students need that pure interaction, and I think phones really shut that down.'

Last on her list of unacceptable behaviors is 'not doing your work and failing.'

'I know a lot of teachers whose philosophy is if students want to learn and engage, then they will but if you don't wanna be there, I'm not gonna go out of my way to help you.

'Problem with this is we're working with teenagers. Their brains are not yet fully developed, so they're making choices right now that can affect them so severely down the line.

'Being credit deficient, not getting a high school degree is disastrous for many students. I just feel like we need to do whatever we can in our power to help them make different decisions.'

People flooded the comments section and praised the teacher for her attitude - particularly on her take on subtle bullying and how she stops it.

One person said: 'The subtle bullying is such an issue. I saw it so much when I subbed.'

Another user wrote: 'I'm so glad you actually can spot subtle bullying like that. My teachers would actively tell me it wasn't happening when I'd try to talk to them about it.'

Someone else said: 'Subtle bullying is so bad! we did karaoke in class and had to stop because of popular bullies 'encouraging' and recording.'

'Subtle bullying for seven years took me most of a decade to get over. Ruins your self confidence. You are changing lives!' one person wrote.
