The younger brother of Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been sentenced to six months' probation after pleading guilrty to assaulting a woman at a Kansas restaurant.
Jackson Mahomes, 23, was sentenced on Thursday after pleading no contest to a single misdemeanor count of battery - meaning he accepted the charge without admitting guilt.
He will avoid jail time if he follows court orders of not contacting the victim and going through alcohol and drug treatment and therapy.
The sentencing came more than two months after prosecutors dismissed three felony charges for aggravated sexual battery related to accusations that Mahomes grabbed a woman by the neck and kissed her against her will inside an Overland Park, Kansas, restaurant in February 2023.
Those more serious charges were dropped due to a lack of cooperation from the woman, who retracted the sexual assault claims, according to a court filing.

The remaining misdemeanor battery charge said Mahomes shoved a waiter who tried to come into a room where he was with the woman, according to investigators.
Prosecutors dropped the felony charges after the accuser, who was the owner of the restaurant, refused to testify in the case.
The woman reported that she endured death threats and harassment and that her restaurant was vandalized in the wake of the charges. She closed the restaurant in August.
She also said that if she were granted immunity, she would say she lied about the claims she made to police and that the encounter with Mahomes was consensual.
Mahomes is not the only relative of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' family to face recent brushes with the law.
The NFL player's father, former Major League Baseball pitcher Patrick Mahomes Sr., was arrested in Texas on February 3, accused of driving while intoxicated.
A week later, Patrick Mahomes earned his third Super Bowl championship ring in February, leading the Chiefs to a 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

The original charges accused Jackson Mahomes, a social media influencer, of shoving a waiter at Aspens Restaurant and Lounge in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City.
Investigators said Mahomes shoved a waiter who tried to come into a room where he was with the restaurant's owner, Aspen Vaughn.
After the waiter left, Mahomes grabbed Vaughn by the throat and forcefully kissed her three different times without her consent, prosecutors alleged.
Vaughn told police Mahomes was a friend of her stepdaughter, and had caused trouble and been asked to leave the restaurant in the past.
Vaughn closed the restaurant in August, saying her business suffered from the publicity associated with the case. She told the Kansas City Star at the time that she endured death threats and harassment and the restaurant was vandalized in the aftermath of the charges.

The younger Mahomes has been in the spotlight for viral behavior on TikTok, but has also stirred up some controversy with his antics on the sidelines at his brother's games.
In 2021, he poured water on a Baltimore Ravens fan after a Chiefs loss in an incident that was caught on video. He then tweeted: 'They were thirsty.'
A month later, just after the Chiefs played the Washington Commanders, Jackson shared a video of himself dancing on a tribute to late Washington player Sean Taylor, who died in 2007.
