Oscar De La Hoya has brushed off fears about Ryan Garcia's mental health ahead of next month's fight against Devin Haney, claiming everything is fine with the fighter ahead of his bout.

On Friday, the Golden Boy promoter dismissed reports that Garcia needs help after a week full of questionable behavior from the 25-year-old, former interim lightweight champion on social media.

Garcia even claimed that there were attempts to put him in a mental institute after  he shared several strange posts on X (Twitter), including some on 'demons', 'UFOs', Elon Musk being 'the Antichrist' and speaking in tongues. But, the California native now insists that he's 'locked' into his fight against Haney, which is scheduled on April 20 in Brooklyn, as he enter training camps with six-to-seven weeks to go.

De La Hoya shares the same sentiment as Garcia, adding that 'KingRy' looks ready to go in his estimation.

'I've been in touch with Ryan Garcia,' De La Hoya told Fight Hub TV. 'I spoke to him yesterday. I literally did, we were on the video chat, we were FaceTiming each other. He looks good. He looks good, he looks ready. I'm telling you.

'Look, all I know is that he left to camp yesterday and he's with Derrick James and he's with his whole team and one thing about Ryan is he's been training, and there's what, six to seven weeks left to train and be ready for this fight. That's perfect timing.

'Look, in my history when I was fighting, I needed five-to-six weeks in camp. It's perfect timing, it's all good. We will see Ryan Garcia up in the ring on April 20th.'

De La Hoya also expressed his excitement for the fight, saying he predicts it to be an exciting, fan-friendly affair.

'I think this one here, the seventh fight in the pro level with 8 oz gloves, is going to be a blood bath, and I'm excited for it.'

Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) was stopped by Gervonta Davis in April, a month before Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) defended his titles against Vasiliy Lomachenko in his final fight at lightweight before moving up to the 140-pound limit.

But with Canelo Alvarez, boxing's biggest draw, expected to fight in Las Vegas on May 4, De La Hoya said there was a risk that fans wouldn't pay up for tickets to two events so close together. Besides, he thinks there's a need to bring Garcia, already with a huge social media following, to a new audience.

'The greats, the best, fought in New York in order to become a world champion,' De La Hoya said. 'Not a Vegas champion, not a California champion, but a global world champion, and so I've always thought that fighters who want to be superstars must fight in New York.

'This is why we're here.'
