Former Teen Mom UK star Mia Boardman has hit back at those judging her based on her appearance and claiming she's a bad mother because she likes to party.

The 25-year-old mother-of-one from Southampton claims she is regularly braded as a 'bad mum,' simply due to the clothing she decides to wear and lifestyle she leads.

Boasting more than 320,000 followers on Instagram, the young single parent is often met with hateful comments and hoards of trolls each time she uploads a new snap.

But, she's keen to spread the word that you should be able to 'have a life away from being a mum' and the trolls are wrong.

Speaking to The Sun Fabulous Magazine, Mia said: 'I get called a bad mum a lot. I like to wear the clothes I wear which some people say aren’t typical 'mum' clothes.

'And that makes me a bad mum? People have gone as far to message me and say my child should be taken away because of the way I am.'

Her daughter Marliya visits her dad on weekends - something Mia said the haters seem to forget.

She said: 'If I’m out every weekend I’m an awful mum when Marliya is actually at her dad's house.

'Life doesn’t stop when you have children, for me it has just started, but I’m constantly judged because I like to party.

'Of course you have to make so many sacrifices, but I believe you should be able to go out and do what you want to do as much as you want.

Speaking about teen mothers in general, Mia told the outlet: 'I think people judge us, because they don’t think we are capable parents.

'Yes an older mum has more life experience and maybe more money but I personally don’t believe age makes a difference to how good of a mum you are.

'Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t encourage being a young mum, because you have to sacrifice a lot, and you miss out on the normal teenage things. However, my view is Marliya has been the making of me.

'So to people who 100 per cent want to have a baby young I wish them all the luck in the world and to ignore any negatives, you can be the best mum at 18 and the best mum at 35 I don’t care what anybody says.'

It comes as the latest series of Teen Mom UK, the show that catapulted Mia to fame, saw her relationship with Marliya's dad Manley Geddes take a turn for the worst.

Mia explains: 'I couldn’t have had a baby with someone more opposite. When it’s bad it’s bad when it’s good it’s ok. It’s draining sometimes.'

Last year, the star also opened up about her experience with domestic violence, after her ex-boyfriend Christopher Brooks pinned her to the floor and choked her after she refused to go to bed with him.

Brooks, of Court Road, Caterham, Surrey, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm in March 2021.

He and Ms Boardman, who lives in Southampton, had remained friends after their one-year relationship ended in February last year.

But Maidstone Crown Court heard things turned nasty when, having spent an afternoon together in June at Brooks's then home in Sevenoaks, he began to question her about a man she had dated after they split up.

He grabbed her phone and refused to hand it back unless she spent the night with him.

Brooks then told her to swear on her child's life that she would not carry on seeing her new man.

But when Ms Boardman said she could not make such a promise, Brooks reacted violently.
