The skirt was the opposite of the top, and was made of a dark green, velvet fabric that flowed down towards the ground along with a thigh-high slit on the left side.

Issa slipped into a pair of open-toed, black heels to coincide with the overall color scheme of her look for Hollywood's biggest night.

Her locks were slicked back away from her face and styled into a high bun, preventing any loose strands from falling onto her face.

The star accessorized her outfit with a pair of dangly, silver earrings as well as a glittering bracelet on her right wrist. She also added an assortment of flashy rings on each of her hands.

Rae's makeup was glammed up, and comprised of voluminous lashes as well as a shimmering, smoky shadow around her eyes.

A warm blush and contour was added to better accentuate her cheekbones, while a glossy, nude-colored tint was worn on her lips for a finishing touch.

While talking to Laverne Cox for E! News on the red carpet, Issa opened up about her evolving sense of style.

'I think over time, as I've had to step out more, I've developed love and respect for fashion and designers,' the actress and writer expressed.

'And any opportunity to work with brilliant artists of all mediums and especially fashion I'm gonna take that opportunity so I've just been loving it.'

During the interview, Rae also gave a simple 'message' to casting directors: 'Cast me.'

'I don't want to say I'm a good luck charm, but I'm wearing green tonight, so I just want to send a message out there that if you want to get nominated for an Oscar, cast me.'

Issa had a busy 2023, and notably took on the role of President Barbie in Greta Gerwig's box office hit, Barbie - which starred other celebrities including Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera.

The movie notably raked in seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Gosling, Best Supporting Actress for Ferrera as well as Best Original Song for I'm Just Ken and also What Was I Made For?

Rae also stepped behind the camera to voice Jess Drew/Spider-Woman in the animated film Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.

The project was additionally a box office success and won the Academy Award for Best Animation Feature on Sunday.

Issa also portrayed the character of Sintara Golden in American Fiction alongside Jeffrey Wright- who played Thelonious 'Monk' Ellison - Sterling K. Brown, Tracee Ellis Ross and Adam Brody.

The movie was nominated for five Oscars, such as Best Picture and Best Actor for Wright.

The premise is: 'A novelist who's fed up with the establishment profiting from Black entertainment uses a pen name to write a book that propels him into the heart of the hypocrisy and madness he claims to disdain,' per an IMDB synopsis.

During an interview for Net-a-Porter's digital issue earlier this year, Rae discussed taking a part in the critically acclaimed project. 'I found [the script] so relatable, so funny, so perfectly satirical.'

'Because I've been Monk, and I remember in the 'Awkward Black Girl' days – and even prior to that – feeling so enraged about what wasn't being made...'

'And being mad at who was in the spotlight at the time because I was like, "I know we're so much more than what's being presented here.'

'I completely understand it and I agree with [Sintara's] point that [Monk's] ire should be directed towards the white audiences that put very specific work about Black people on this pedestal, as opposed to more diverse representations of Blackness.'

She later added, 'If this were a movie just about that Black family, I don't know that it would get praised as much as it has been. Those kinds of movies are hard to get made.'

Issa also revealed that she was excited to jump back into writing and explained, 'I've been feeling so inspired and excited to get back at it.'

'The industry is in flux, so it's really inspired me to focus and hone in on what stories I want to tell. I've been laser-focused on getting these projects up and running.'
