A conservative nonprofit has accused CNN of refusing to air an ad that blamed president Biden for the murder of Laken Riley during last week's State of the Union,

Building America’s Future claims CNN declined to show the ad highlighting 22-year-old Riley's alleged murder by undocumented Venezuelan migrant Jose Ibarra, 26, at the University of Georgia at Athens campus.

'CNN and Joe Biden are in lockstep once again,' advisor to the group Phil Cox told Fox News Digital.

'It is shameful that CNN is censoring the truth and trying to protect President Biden by refusing to air this ad. The American people understand that Biden’s open borders agenda is responsible for the death of Laken Riley.'

The ad in question was aired by Fox News and liberal network MSNBC.

It begins with a narration that says: 'Laken Riley should have been able to go on a run, in broad daylight without being murdered by an illegal immigrant. But Joe Biden promised not to deport illegal immigrants.'

The ad goes on to cite different instances where president Biden appeared to not prioritize illegal immigration.

In one of the clips the president said undocumented migrants should not be the focus of deportation and wouldn't be jailed e "put in jail while waiting for their hearing"

'So, when Jose Ibarra crossed into America illegally, he was not deported, he was not put in jail,' the ad's narration adds.

'Biden also supported sanctuary cities. So, when Jose Ibarra was arrested in New York City for endangering a child, he was freed a second time. Ibarra went to Georgia, where he beat Laken Riley to death. How many more killers has Biden set free?'

CNN told DailyMail.com the ad 'did not meet commercial clearance guidelines and policies' and cited 'claims that were unsubstantiated.'

DailyMail.com has reached out to Building America’s Future for comment on this story.

Riley's mother Allyson Phillips slammed president Biden following his speech at the state of the union last week, which saw him fumble the nursing student's name.

'Biden does not even KNOW my child’s name – it pathetic!' she wrote. 'If you are going to say her name (even when forced to do so) at least say the right name!'

The 81-year-old sparked backlash after referring to Riley, who was allegedly murdered by an illegal immigrant, as 'Lincoln' in his address.

Riley was found dead on the University of Georgia campus on February 22 after leaving her home for a run, suffering blunt force trauma to the head allegedly inflicted by Ibarra, in what investigators said was a 'crime of opportunity.'

The murder took center stage on Thursday evening as President Biden delivered his State of the Union address.

Firebrand Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene heckled the speech shouting 'say her name' when the immigration arose, after previously handing Biden a pin bearing Riley's name.

'Lincoln, Lincoln Riley,' Biden said, holding up the pin. 'An innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal.

'But how many of thousands of people being killed by legals? To her parents I say my heart goes out to you, having lost children myself, I understand,' he said.

The murder has been seen by many as a touchstone moment in the struggle to contain illegal immigration, with former President Donald Trump revealing he also spoke with Riley's parents after her murder.

During a trip to the southern border last week, Trump said he spoke with the grieving parents shortly after charges were brought against Ibarra, saying they are 'incredible people' who are 'devastated beyond belief.'

'(Riley) she was beautiful, just so beautiful in so many ways. And brutally assaulted, horrifically beaten, kidnapped and savagely murdered,' he said.
