Internet jokers have responded to the Princess of Wales' Mother's Day photograph with a series of light-hearted imitations featuring everyone from Gerard in Peep Show to the cast of the disastrous Willy Wonka experience.
William took the photo of his smiling family ahead of its public release on social media on Sunday. But observers quickly noticed inconsistencies in the picture, prompting Kate to admit she had edited it and apologising for the 'confusion'.
Other amateur photo editors have now seized the chance to create their own altered versions of the snap, with one showing Gerard - the sickly colleague of Mark Corrigan in Peep Show - staring forlornly out of a window.
Another showed Paddington Bear sitting on Kate's lap and American Democratic politician Bernie Sanders wearing his signature woolen gloves - but with four hands instead of two.
The Willy Wonka experience - a much mocked event in Glasgow that charged £35 a ticket for entry into a near empty warehouse inhabited by a handful of glum-looking actors - also featured heavily in the mock-ups.
