TikTokers think they have discovered the latest anti-aging hack: band-aids that are meant for blisters, otherwise known as blister cushions.

One woman from the UK, with the TikTok handle @dickiebelle, said she sticks a blister cushion between her eyebrows to get rid of a very prominent frown line.

She shared her secret in a TikTok clip which went viral, garnering over 700,000 views.

'I have literally got a ravine between my eyebrows. I hate it,' she said.

'I've been doing this for the last three nights... You need to get the bunion one because it's diamond-shaped and fits perfectly between your eyebrows.'

'I'll sleep in this overnight and when I wake up in the morning, it's gone.'

The results, documented in her videos, show an impressive transformation - with the line seeming to miraculously vanish the next morning.

'It's either helping the skincare absorb more easily, it's holding the moisture in so it's keeping it plumped. It might be an illusion and I might have a reliance on Compeed now for the rest of my life,' Dickiebelle said.

So is this the quick anti-wrinkle fix we've all been hoping for?

After sleeping with the blister patch between her brows for three nights in a row, she saw dramatic improvement

'I have literally got a ravine between my eyebrows. I hate it,' said the TikToker. But after sleeping with the blister patch between her brows for three nights in a row, she saw dramatic improvement.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, a New York-based dermatologist has revealed that, incredibly, the bandages may actually be effective for disguising wrinkles.

'First of all, when you tape wrinkles, it calms down your muscles, so you don't move the muscles as actively,' says Dr Viktoryia Kazlouskaya, a double board-certified dermatologist from New York City and owner of Dermatology Circle clinic.

Blister band-aids are made using hydrocolloid – a moist wound healing dressing which protects blisters while they heal.

'I've been doing this for the last three nights... You need to get the bunion one because it's diamond-shaped and fits perfectly between your eyebrows,' TikTok user @dickiebelle said

Dr Kazlouskaya said: 'Secondly, hydrocolloid tapes moisturize the skin. A lot of people just use facial tapes [to combat wrinkles]. Those are not as moisturizing as hydrocolloid.'

Another reason is blister patches may combat fine lines is because they create occlusion on the skin, Dr Kazlouskaya added.

In dermatology, occlusion involves applying an moisturizing ointment to the skin and then covering it so it can be absorbed into the skin more quickly.

Dr Kazlouskaya said: 'Using skincare and then using a hydrocolloid patch on top may increase penetration of other skin products.'

This plumps the skin, making the lines less obvious and the surface of the face look smoother.

However crucially, Dr Kazlouskaya adds that the remedy will not be long lasting.

'If the muscle continues to move, the wrinkles will still form. So, while the skin might look smoother in the morning, during the day once you start facial movements, the wrinkle will probably  be as apparent as before.'

Wrinkles are a natural part of aging, and have a number of causes including repeated facial expressions.

Every time you smile or frown, tiny grooves form beneath the surface of the skin.

Over time, the skin becomes drier and less elastic, making it less flexible and no longer able to bounce back. The grooves can become permanent.

But Dr Kazlouskaya warned wearing blister patches may also inflame the skin.

'You should be careful because if you're using retinoid or retinol and then put hydrocolloid on top, it may actually lead to more drying and irritation,' she said.
