New York City-based social media creator Fia James, 27, (seen with her boyfriend) took to TikTok to detail the piece of love advice her mother gave her, which 'weirdly worked'
Fia, who is now in a committed relationship, explained that her mom first handed her the piece of advice.
'A dating hack that my mom told me that weirdly, oddly, stupidly worked,' she introduced at the beginning of the clip.
Then, the content creator noted that after inviting a man to your place you should throw some baked goods in the oven.
'When you invite a guy over, you should be baking cookies before they get there so that your apartment still smells of cookies,' she explained.
Fia said that she even used the trick on her own boyfriend - and it worked.
She noted that her boyfriend was stunned when he came into her place and it smelled like the sweet treats.
At the end of the clip, she said: 'We tricked them and we manipulated them, and now every time they smell a cookie, they think of us. Bake your cookies.'
Her hack mimicked the Pavlov effect, which is learning through association and first came about from Pavlov's dog experiments, which saw the animals being trained to associate ringing with food.
People flooded the comments section and noted that the trick was used in various movies including Clueless (1995) and Because I Said So (2007)
