A real life 40-year-old virgin has candidly opened up about the real reasons he has never had sex in a candid Q&A forum online.

The anonymous man, who is based in the US, took to Reddit to dish about his lack of interest in sex and why he 'doesn't care' if he is ever intimate.

In a thread titled, 'Ask Me Anything,' the 'semi-retired' entrepreneur explained that from a young age, he never was interested in relationships because they had 'limited return', so he never lost his virginity.

He revealed that he never had any inclination to pursue things further with women, adding that the majority of his 'relationships' never made it past the 'first or second date.'

He wrote: 'I'm the real 40 year old virgin, ask me anything. I turned 40 two weeks ago, ask away.'

The unnamed entrepreneur compared his life to that of character Andy Stitzer from the hit 2005 film The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

The movie follows Andy, who spends his free time playing video games, as his pals try to push Andy towards losing his virginity.

Following the entrepreneur's post, people flooded the comments section and asked him a slew of questions.

One person asked if he had any similarities to the film character.

He responded: 'I really like the movie, plenty of scenes make me crack up. I am absolutely a nerd, I've been retired for several years now so I've jumped into many hobbies.

'My most Andy-like one would probably be Legos, kind of became obsessed for about a year and a half and have since dispersed the collection to my nieces and nephews. It's nice being the cool uncle.'

Someone else took to the comments section to claim that the 40-year-old's lack of desire to have sex was 'interesting.'

The unnamed entrepreneur noted that he began feeling repulsed by sex when he hit puberty.

He said: 'Probably puberty, my friends would talk about girls and I always thought of it from a probability stand point.

'Chances are you aren't going to marry this middle school girl, so why the relationship? Why the dedication to something with such a limited return.

'This mentality went to about college, when I started dating, tried it and didn't really want a partnership with any of the girls so never pushed it further. It's just a switch, I like them then suddenly I don't.'

He noted that he has never had any issues with women and is enjoying solo life as he is spending time traveling.

The man noted that his disinterest often begins during the first date.

'But during the date things are going well, flirtation, back and forth, all the green flags, then boom, nothing,' he said.

He added that he 'enjoys his own company' and doesn't want anything more.

Some users even questioned if he was 'asexual.'

He responded: 'Maybe after everyone asking me. I have found many people to be very attractive and have dated quite a few, but it rarely leads to long term interest, so the relationship quickly breaks down.'

And while he is 'open' to having sex, he explained that he isn't exactly counting down the days to lose his virginity.

'I'm open to it, but I have as much interest in it as learning how to ride a unicycle,' he added.

Other users tried to convince the man to get on dating apps so he could meet a nice woman, however, he declined.
